Game Grumps

To this day though, I still wonder what happened that made Jon leave? Hopefully it was something as simple as better opportunities, financial reasons, ect. But a part of me wonders if something happened between him and Arin.

Regardless, I prefer Danny overall.
Supposedly Arin was acting like an asshole and they eventually had some kind of falling out.

I heard that Jon attended Arin and Suzy's wedding, but have no idea if that's true.

I used to watch it, but sometime after Jon left I stopped. I like Danny and Ross, but I feel like Arin doesn't have the same chemistry.

and also watching Grumps makes it really hard to take Arin's ravings on game design seriously, because he's pretty terrible at games.

That's the one thing that always bugs me about Arin. I don't care if he's not that great at games, but his sequelities videos make him look kinda silly when you watch how he plays. He talks about how a lot of games have annoying tutorial sections, and yet he clearly needs them as he spent so much time wandering around in the first level of Naughty Bear not knowing what to do despite the game telling him right off the bat.

PERSONAL OPINION AHOY!

I find Arin to be an insufferable toolbag and it's only gotten worse over time. He's a really sore loser and just as lousy of a winner. I can't stand any of the vs. episodes in particular because Danny's being a cool guy and Arin's over here like "OHHH YEAH TEN POINTS".
It also really, really bugs me that he's so wildly incompetent and pays no attention to the game he's playing or his performance therein, he's more interested in talking-- which I can understand, he wants to keep things interesting-- but I would love if someone who makes money off of let's plays actually bothered to not suck once in a while.
All this said, I do watch their videos when I need some background noise. I love hearing Danny's stories and I can't wait for his new album to come out. I also rather enjoy Steam Train whenever Danny shows up (Which is rare these days, but oh well). I also like Barry and Ross.
Agreed that Suzy is really terminally unfunny. She sort of strikes me as the kind of person I wouldn't like at all if I knew her in person.
I think she and Arin are perfect for each other though, they're both fuck-awful at games and prefer to blame the games themselves when they're the ones messing up.
I enjoyed Jon era greatly, but I also really enjoy Jontron and the direction his videos have taken. I think his comedy is getting really, really good and I'm glad they split up regardless of the circumstances.

If there's one thing that bothers me, it's that I wish they would leave "darker" games like Silent Hill alone. When Arin and Suzy played Presentable Liberty, they got a shit-ton of hate for not taking the game seriously and just being annoying throughout the whole thing. I know it's not a Let's Play channel and they riff on games all the time, but if that's the case, they should stick to stuff that doesn't involve deep thinking or immersion. Otherwise it kinda comes across as pointless bitching.

And yeah, Arin sucks at following directions.

I remember watching the Game Grumps Vs Arin did with Jon, and when Arin got legit angry at Jon because Jon jokingly wouldn't tell him the rules of a specific part of the game, and just got to the point where he was all "I AM ACTUALLY GETTING MAD AT YOU RIGHT NOW JON!" I just kinda shook my head and was all "Chimp out much, Arin?"

Normally I would agree, but I personally really enjoyed their Shadow of the Colossus playthrough. Yeah, they do get a bit loud and obnoxious at times during the game, but for some reason, I didn't mind. At the very least, it was MILES better than DSP's playthough of it.

I remember laughing and thinking "Arin you evil motherfucker" when he was

baiting Danny into caring for Agro and appreciating how awesome she is RIGHT BEFORE the scene where she supposedly died.

Then I got sad again. :(

They apparently patched things up recently, IIRC.

Arin acting like an asshole seems plausible, or at least it was the last straw kind of thing. The abrupt separation with zero detail left a lot of room for speculation. Considering the deliberate erasure of Jon from anecdotes and that one drawing from Super Mario 3D Land, and their limited squabbles on Twitter and Reddit, it was clear that something had happened between them to cause the break-up and Maker Studio's non-disparagement clause was the only thing keeping it from reaching the public. There was also that time Nicole (Jon's girlfriend) called Suzy "Yoko Ono" during a drunken livestream, but she took it back almost immediately and supplied no further details, so nothing came out besides rumors.

It's nice to see them on good terms again, in any case. Once the photos of them hugging at some convention leaked, it seemed like they couldn't stop mentioning him on the show. Ventgrumps calls this point in time the ECHknowlegement.

Yeah, I remember when the GG fans went fucking ballistic when they mentioned Jon by name on a recent episode, pretty much going "OMG, DOES THAT MEAN JON'S GONNA COME BACK AND BE A GUEST?!?"

I started watching Game Grumps right when they started up. It was like a match made in heaven to me, but while I will still remember such memorable moments like beating Mega Man 7 and basically the entirety of Sonic '06, they just posted their videos way too quickly for me to keep up. They probably should have just posted a single video every 2-3 days so they wouldn't burn people out.

I really liked their Goof Troop LP and that's about it.
A lot of people I know liked their Sonic '06 LP, but I thought it was shit. Sonic '06 is a piece of crap, everybody knows this. Watching a whole series about how shit the game just felt dumb, especially when they made fun of the same issues in the game multiple times.

NICKELODEON GUTS ON SNES
Aah man, that was hilarious. And it's not like Jon knew the mechanics of the game going in, he just figured it out while playing and Arin didn't, so it wasn't an unreasonable advantage or entirely unfair for Jon not to tell him.

Sometimes I'm not sure if it's that I don't like Arin, or that I just don't like Egoraptor. Probably some of both, but I'm assuming he plays up the obnoxious side intentionally, as a character. Hell, in that april fools episode he seemed pretty tolerable, probably also because he wasn't constantly calling Ross an idiot. And the drawing and developing animation was fun to watch - april fools episode or not, I wouldn't mind if they did some more of those occasionally.

I agree with the majority here - Arin is a tool, Ross Dan and Barry are awesome.

I kind of feel bad for Suzy. She wants to be part of her husband's career but time and time again it just hasn't been a good outcome.

I disagree with the SJW claims - they still talk about fucked up stuff all the time.

Beard Bros is better anyway.

I'm going to be a bit controversial and say that Arin is my favorite grump. He goes really well with Danny because they're good friends. I don't really identify with the fan nickname, because I don't care that much.

I find their vids hit and misses at best. Some of them are actually pretty impressive (like they actually managed to finish Ninja Gaiden for the NES recently), some of them are just meh, and sometimes they can be... fucking DSP-level cringey like this one below:

Still, it's alright to watch them to pass the time.

How many episodes a day of this stuff do they release? My partner watches like 2-3 a day it seems.
