The small remnants of humanity in my shriveled black heart want to see this woman pull herself together and stop being such a cancer to herself and others. But given that she will, best case scenario, spend the rest of her life in a body warped by fat, covered in scars from skin removal, with knee and hip replacements, walking like Homer Simpson, is it really worth the effort for her to lose weight and go without the sole pleasure she values in her wasted life? It's hard to make the argument that her life will really improve with weight loss.
Her clavicle is warped because all the fat around her midsection forces her shoulders into a strange configuration. I would not be surprised if her humerus is a bit warped as well. Her spine is fucked and she will forever stand with that head-thrown-back, entering a room belly-button first stance unless she has surgery and lots of physical therapy. Her visceral fat has forced her sternum and ribs to expand, meaning she will always have a massive, ungainly ribcage. Her knees have to be bone on bone and she probably needs hip replacement as well. Her arms will likely never sit flush at her sides, regardless of how much weight she loses.
Add all that together with the massive amount of skin removal she will need, and it's hard to see how her life will be better if she loses weight. She's not pining for long walks in the sunset, she can't have kids and has none now so it's not like she needs to improve for anyone else's sake, she has no sincere dreams of travel (all she wants to do is mince about in a bikini while men drool over her and that will never happen), no sincere dreams of a career - all she wants is food. Her skeleton is twisted, her organs scarred, her skin removal will be legendary in the amount removed, her joints need replacing, her teeth are horrible, her head is ever-balding...
She's so fucked. There is no redemption arc. She cannot come out of this without heroic levels of medical intervention, surgery, pain and determination. No shade at her because most people don't have that level of dedication to a physical goal that could take decades to achieve yet still leave you in chronic pain. Perhaps the kindest thing to do is to encourage the gorging because even with weight loss she won't look normal and if she can't look normal - she actually wants to look sexy in a mainstream way - why bother with the diet song and dance. Just eat until you cannot breathe another single breath and enjoy the food that makes you so happy, Chantal.
