I think he's better off at John's or whatever other ex stepdad he's at. He looks happier, lighter.

He also looks like he has lost weight. If his mother hadn't been Tess, I would've said it's because he's 15 and is growing up and his body burns every single calorie it can get, but... his mother is Tess, so the change of diet probably helped a lot too.

I hope he is better off, but even if the unrelated man is a good parent somehow... it will hurt that kid's heart that their mom let them go so easily at such a young age. Its weird for a mother to do that. You are thinking it as if Ryann was a normal person. But she's not, she's a narcissistic attention whore, and this translates into her being a "mother".

Normal parents wouldn't abandon one of their kids to one of their exes, but narcissist parents? Their kids are nothing but props, and when they decide to not be props anymore (just like how Rilee asked to not be features on her socials anymore), they are to be left behind, if not discarded completely.

Look at Onision: he had a kid with his child bride to satisfy his impregnation fetish, and then completely refused to interact with the kid. His wife got pregnant a second time after they kicked out their "girlfriend" Billie, hoping that satisfying his fetish would restore their relationship, and as an answer Onision got back with Billie and almost ran away with her after signing both kids to his wife.

I knew a woman who sent her kid to live with his father in Argentina after not seeing him for almost fifteen years, because her new boyfriend didn't want kids and he didn't want to raise hers either.

I think that realizing your parents are narcs isn't easy for anybody, especially after an entire childhood spent listening to people who tell you you're a horrible person and you're lucky they don't put you up for adoption or some other mean shit.

But, Mama Grape probably made it easier for Rilee because she basically kicked him out in favour of keeping her "model" career rather than trying to get a normal job. Living with a (supposedly) well-adjusted guy who eats a normal diet and doesn't plaster the kid's face on the social anytime he needs virtual pats on the head, is going to help Rilee develop a sense of self that isn't completely wrapped around his mother's ego, and it's going to help him realize, when he'll grow up, that his mother is a narc and that he did nothing wrong nor something that should make him feel guilty.

Yeah, lots of people who are children of narcs can be easily guilt tripped or comply to whatever their parents say, but, honestly... how long is Ryann's life expectancy anyway? For how long can she guilt trip her child into doing whatever she wants when she looks like she won't reach her fifties anyways?

I'm mostly worried about Bowie still: he's her Golden Child, and not the kind of GC that is abused into studying and doing his best, he's the kind of GC that doesn't need to be taught anything because he's already perfect. I've known a GC who, at almost 13, barely knew how to write because his narc parents never cared about his education because he's already a genius.

I think Rilee is going to be fine, he's going to need therapy but he'll grow up to be an adjusted, functioning adult. It's Bowie the one that will possibly turn into a lolcow.

The kind of psychological damage narcissistic mothers inflict on their kids is serious, however the new guy might be doing something way worse behind closed doors. mom's boyfriend (ex or not) is the worst person to leave your kids with, statistically, for fear of molestation or serious bodily injury. Men who are psychologically healthy tend to not agree to this type of arrangement.

You can't really help getting attached to a kid. Once you're attached, you generally want to make sure they're safe, even at great costs to yourself.

I'm not sure if they ever told him the truth but Rylee thinks john is his actual father. He is not biologically John's child but has been integrated into John's family for at least the last 10 years.
