"Current year" terms that piss you off

"This timeline" which is generally said as a declaration after someone hears of something crazy going on in the world. "oh man, this timeline :story: " contributes nothing to any conversation. In the same vein, "clown world." We get it everything is weird and fucked up right now, no need to repeat the same dumb catchphrases to emphasize it.

"Incel"
It reminds me of that slag Jennifer Hepler during the Mass Effect 3 scandal years ago. "The only reason why you're upset is because I have a video games job and a vagina and you don't have both," said as she looks like a Lovecraftian horror monster.
I forget who, but someone on /pol/ came back with, "I've had sex and everything's the same, so now what?"
Bitch who used the slur never answered.

The word “valid” has been rendered meaningless these days by overuse.

Another one I hate is “person/people of color.” Isn’t this just the term “colored” that was used during segregation with extra syllables? How did this catch on? What was wrong with saying the specific race someone is? They’re all different and unique so why lump them together? It’s bullshit in more ways than one.

Because the ones who complain about racism the most tend to be closeted racists.

I know "kinning" has been around a while or some shit, but I've been seeing it everywhere lately. Like, it's fine to relate to a character or whatever, but why do you have to be them? It boggles my mind.

Person of Color is pissing me off as well. For all their screeching about racism, I swear leftists are one step away from donning Klan hoods.

I remember in 2004 my grandma found out she had a tumor in her brain. We were looking for nurses to help out, and one of the applicants was a black woman. My grandma kept calling her a "colored" woman, mortifying me and having to apologise to the woman in private. My grandma wasn't racist, colored people was the PC term of her day, but by 2004 was seen as antiquated. How is Person of Color any different? It's all just identity politics doublespeak meant to keep everyone on eggshells and at each other's throats, divided. Leftists are insidious creatures that way.

To me, Person of Color legitimizes George Carlin's criticisms of PC language and the continued torturing of words.

Take "colored" for example. It's considered racist now, but back then it was to the point. The person isn't white, so they're colored. However, it's also not specific; what color is the person? There are many colors of human skin. Black? Red? Yellow? It also puts everyone who isn't white into a neat little box, which is also why I and others would consider it racist. That's why the word shifted to "black" which is more specific and the most accurate descriptor of black people. Now you're talking about a specific group of people and you've given them a word that fits their identity. Then that shifted to African American, which was always a bit inaccurate since there are black people from South America and the Caribbean, but when we think of black people we think of them as being from Africa. It takes longer to say and it also slightly obfuscates the meaning of what we want to say, but not to the point where others don't know who we're talking about.

Person of Color is the latest and it's the most tortured and prolonged series of meaningless words. It's three words and is so undescriptive it can describe basically anyone who isn't white, because apparently narrowing down the ethnicity of who you're talking about is considered racist. It's also so long and annoying to say that people often shorten it to POCs, which is a huge indicator of how unwieldy the phrase is. "African American" and "black" at least specified and described who you were talking about. It's basically using "colored" again but since it takes longer to say and hides under the veneer of political correctness, people don't have to feel bad about talking about non-white people.

Calling someone toxic is something that just pisses me off. I remember when it was just used to describe the LoL fanbase since it was notorious for being the worst fanbase in games and maybe even all media.
Now it's just used to describe someone who disagrees with you. I really wish people would stop taking words used for extreme labeling and watering them down into nothing but exaggerations.

Also the terms progressive and regressive used in social relevance irks me. Social decisions are made based on the current needs of the populace and the changing beliefs about certain groups isn't "regression" regardless of whatever public decision is made about them. If I make a wrong turn on the way to the store and have to turn around I'm not regressing, I'm fixing a mistake. And that analogy isn't that great since there's a final goal to achieve unlike progressive-ism which just has some nebulous, unobtainable goal.

the whole twitter "you must be a bot" thing, and websites that let you "check" how probable it is that an twitter account is a bot that enable this behavior

It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t feel like I was being lectured about proper eating habits all the time. For context, she is recovering from an eating disorder
lol never ever EVER trust a person who has/had an eating disorder regarding anything food/weight/fitness related. I'm not saying this to be mean, they are just good at lying about the topic

The world tolerance lost it's meaning or at least was re-defiend big time.
Originally it meant just accepting or being neutral about stuff, now you need to downright love the thing.
(Just because I am lactose tolerant, that shouldn't mean I love drinking milk, all day every day.)

racism/sexism/whatever-phobia
Also all the anti-ism and x-phobia word. They are just thought terminating cliches and shorthands to flex status on others and make people appear dumb when described as those words. Also they are going well with trying to apply weird psychoanalysis to everything to make the criticism of the current trends go away.

The notorious thing about "toxicity" is that it's a buzzword used to justify overreach from the companies when dealing with their fans.
I mean the whole concept of wanting to ban banter in a competitive team based game is naive at best.

There is a difference between playful bants, the ocassional asshole and harrasment. Too bad the nuance is forever lost because some people were too thin skinned. Not to mention Koreans will nuke all other regions because they train hard while other regions just ban their players for posting obsolete frog memes on Twitter.

The progressive, regressive thing is just dare I say the usual establishent word magic. Just hoard all the good labels so your opposition can't even express their own identity or beliefs without sounding evil. Pretty clever, even if the magic breaks down after you have noticed the pattern. If you respond to their attacks you will instantly accept their framing and basically lose by default.

See how they always call anything they hate, hate.

“Karen”, only because it’s so overused. I can’t wait for this to end.

“Starting a conversation”. It’s not actually a conversation when someone says this. It means be prepared to be lectured.

“Emotional labor”. Anyone that uses this is most likely a pain to be around.

“It’s not my job to educate you”. A terrible defense tactic that is used by people who can’t back up their claims.

“_______ privilege”. Very rarely is it ever used correctly. It’s mostly just used to browbeat others into submission. People that use this in casual conversation are insufferable.

“When we say all _____ are trash/scum/evil, we don’t mean you. If you’re offended by this, it is about you”. It’s bigotry under a progressive veneer. The qualifiers at the end are only there for when said person that says this gets called out.

“You hate to see it”. A smarmy way to say you’re right, usually for something that confirms your own biases.

“______ (insert minority group of the day) will literally die if X (law, rule, funding, etc.) doesn’t happen”. Anyone that says this is scare mongering and is most likely is over exaggerating their claims (or making them up entirely).

"Boomer" and "Karen." They're both fired off by intellectually-bankrupt individuals who automatically dismiss arguments based on who's making them, and it sounds so annoying to hear them constantly repeat them like a retarded budgerigar who thinks they're the smartest fucker on Planet Earth. The use of the word "Karen" as a derogatory term particularly pisses me off because I have a relative named Karen.
I've never understood using people's names as insults.

Toxic masculinity. The general idea that the inherent traits of being a man are bad while also implying women can do no wrong. It's sexist but in sort of a roundabout way that tries to make you look like the good guy.

Really most of the language used by current year people are shields they use to hide how bigoted they actually are, but completely fall apart when you actually put a little thought into what they're actually saying. It's intellectually dishonest and cowardly.
