Clover was a joy to play. And since you knew it wasn't taking itself seriously it gets away with a lot of stuff that another romhack would be criticized into the fucking dirt for. The grass-typing blatant charmander-ripoff evolution line themed after weed. The faggot pony. MOTHERFUCK. Eva on a bicycle. Pingas. So many mons made me laugh, and then the game itself and the towns and everything about that game had me forgetting about the intentionally obnoxious difficulty because I wanted to keep going.
And thinking about some of the thought and consideration and group collaboration put into those fakemons makes me think that there definitely is a good side to the coin of creating fakemons. And I think a lot of it is just having other people involved in a project to weed out dumb ideas and fetishists, the better a project seems to go with teamwork. You can also see some thoughtful fakemons turned out by the srs bznss competitive fags over at smogon.com, who occasionally turn out some interesting fakemons to explore game theories in a collaborative fashion through their create-a-pokemon project.

There was this one girl who had a character called Mewthree or "Myuuta", and I remember over a decade ago reading about how she would contact Nintendo to try and make Myuuta into a real Pokémon because she won some sort of contest and was apparently promised that her Fakemon would be made into a Realmon. Does anyone else remember this?

Garlikid, Garlikid, Garli-Garli-Garlikid!
Pokemon Uranium has some pretty good designs when they're going for "cool" pokemon,Urayne, while having a questionable name and looking like upgrade from Ben 10, looks cool enough for the first form of a legendary (because of course the legendary has to have a bigger, stronger form, like an anime villain).
Garlikid is just fucking awful, it looks like a shitpost that someone sketched up and that was just the final version of it. It's not even derpy looking. The humor of it disappears after looking at it more than once and you realize that it's just a naked dude with a garlic bulb for a head. It's a superhero, I guess? How is that shown? Perhaps make its head look like some kind of a sentai helmet? Maybe some kind of clove shaped gauntlets? Nah, it just gets a cape, not even on that looks like garlic skin, but we can make its shiny version a weeb reference.

Garlikid looks like something they'd actually make, but the Nintendo sprite would be more chibi. It's based on Anpanman, which is a Japanese staple.

Couldn't Jackdeary just be a part of Buneary as an alternate evolution since it mentions it's related to said Pokemon in it's entry, or some similar fluffy rabbit?
