All of those people remarking how afraid they are to gain the "Covid-19 15"? They aren't cowering in terror in the face of inevitable weight gain they cannot control; they're joking. If those same people weren't the size and shape of a fully-stuffed garbage bag at the start of the lockdown, they won't come out of it as such--because they already know what to do to avoid that. If they do get sloppy and start gaining weight, they know how to stop it and turn things back around.

People who have already rendered themselves garbage-bag-sized and -shaped are getting triggered by that joke because they know, deep down, that they're the ones who will gain even more weight in lockdown. That's because they use food as a drug to stave off boredom, anxiety, and depression, and have no good habits regarding food that they can fall back on in these strange days. And as much as they claim to love their fat bodies, we all know they really don't.

TIL social distancing has only been encouraged because people overindulge at gatherings. Damn diet culture!
Honestly all I've heard regarding quarantine diets is "Eat what makes you happy and comfortable! Bake that banana bread, girl! uwu" It's why everyone is joking about gaining weight. Fatties get triggered because that is how they always eat and why they are always fat. Funny to see them basically admit that.

If anybody is interested in submitting more contributions to this thread, the aforementioned Ms. Ashline has helpfully compiled a list of fat acceptance hugbox groups where fresh submissions are easily minted. You will see many HAES all stars, some of whom have their own thread (like Corissa Enneking) posting in these groups. The catch is to join them you'll need a burner facebook account without pictures of yourself that betray your identity as a fit person:

Yes, shortages at the grocery store aren’t happening because of a breakdown in the supply chains due to thousands of workers getting sick or being quarantined...it’s happening to keep you from having more cake.

People are dying and losing loved ones to a scary pandemic and all you can think about is how everyone thinks you’re fat.

Shit like this is proof that these people have never had anything bad happen to them in their lives. If this was a wartime situation with rations they would be throwing the most extreme temper tantrums in the same way.

stuff like fruit, vegetables, and other fresh items are the most likely to be out of stock if all the workers are sick, meanwhile processed stuff like snacks won't be going anywhere. they really shouldn't be complaining, it's not like their lives are actually going to be impacted if their grocery store is low on cucumbers or chicken breast.

We have no problem with produce here, yet. Beef is getting scarce, but pork is still fine (we have a lot of pork producers in the area), but all the Hamburger Helper and Kraft Dinners are sold out. I'm seeing that mostly easy to make or pre-made processed foods are rarely in stock. There was no peanut butter for a month. Same with pasta. Even the expensive organic, natural no additives brands were gone, but I could drown in apples and greens.

Don't even bother going by the frozen pizzas. They gone!

"have less ability to "stock up" or even access to grocery options"
:story:
Maybe this is their justification for ordering takeout multiple times a day?
not to mention how expensive shit like ubereats is with all those added up delivery and service fees. if you order something 20$, it can easily become twice as much if you factor in the fees and delivery tip.

anyone who can afford take out that often is obviously privileged and in no place to complain about food availability

yeah ordering food is expensive as fuck, especially when you want a full meal (as opposed to just a pizza and nothing else)
the money spent on eating ordered food just to eat for a single day would be enough to buy groceries for almost an entire week

Agreed. Have no idea why anyone for whom money is even a slight issue (as opposed to no object, heaps of 100% disposable income) can live on regular takeout. Not when you can generally feed yourself for a small fraction of the cost per meal if you are prepared to put some effort into planning, shopping and cooking your food AND eat better.

Takeout junkfood is ludicrous where I live. For the cost of a normal Macdonald's or Burger King meal (for example a Whopper meal is £6.50, which translates to around $8 let alone a delivery pizza I could feed myself for two days, and healthily too. Chinese and Indian takeout/delivery is way more for proper meals. Takeout/delivery food isn't a part of my life, it's the most extravagant way to eat for the least nutrition, which always seems a bad combination really. I always think of it as a lazy day treat for when money is flush, not something you live on or features in your regular diet.

The sheer amount of food I see these US deathfats consume for ONE meal, one single meal out of the several they eat per day, astounds me; the cost of it also astounds me. I don't understand how hey can afford to eat this way when most of them are semi-employed at best and many are on welfare of one sort or another. I'd be really interested to see their food bills added up. I think it would even shock them how much they spend per month on food cumulatively.

IIRC there's some evidence that hardcore crash diets can cause permanent or long-lasting metabolic damage, too. I've read a few studies that suggest that someone post-crash-diet burns substantially fewer calories than a normal person of the same height/weight/activity level and that this doesn't go away after you start eating normal again, which is part of why so many people just balloon up like crazy after they come off of one.

Don't go lower than 1200 kids.

... unless your doctor recommends it. There has been at least one participant, whom Dr. Now put on a 800 calorie diet before the surgery. But I think that has been in a hospital setting.

Yeah, it may be necessary to save somebody's life. Somebody who is literally going to croak within a month or two due to weighing 800lb or so. The people Now deals with are all at risk of a imminent death from the stress of weight on their heart .... it's insane. They also tend to be in-patient as you mention, probably because of that risk of imminent death and because no way will they stick to it unless they are basically imprisoned within a highly monitered clinical setting.

Stuff like the old very low calorie Cambridge Diet was developed for people in this high-risk situation although back in the day the weights of people it was directed at were much lower than the insane weights Now deals with these days. The problem was the diet, to make money, was marketed at people who were not in any way at risk from their weight but wanted to lose some extra weight fast or whatever. I recall an 18 year-old girl I knew back in the late eighties being sold it by a rep and she was maybe 20lb overweight MAX.

I guess it doesn't apply to death fats, but some people eat too much fast food/etc simply due to a lack of time. It's not that deep. Also, food is cheaper in USA.

Achtung - Low income food rant, bitching about spoiled brats.
If you're working multiple jobs or irregular schedules to get by, you aren't cooking dinner!
There is a massive problem with food accessibility in less fortunate areas. A lot of times, Dollar Tree or Dollar General are the only grocery stores within walking distance in impoverished communities. And guess what they have - high calorie, high carb, shelf-stable stuff in cardboard boxes. Both Dollar Whatevers have a small fridge/freezer section with a few meat items and ice creams. Unless that area happens to have a produce stand or a farmer's market, there is no produce. It's not that easy to "just go buy some healthy food" for a sizable section of the populace. Some people may laugh at the idea of Food Deserts, but it's a very real problem for poor communities.

However, none of these women seem to be lacking funds or appear to be living in poverty. They have cars, smartphones to order delivery and shit from Amazon and BooHoo, get their hair done, etc... So oppressed, because they can't sit at the bar in the sushi restaurant!

It really bothers me when obese, women with stable living situations, steady incomes and university educations try co-opt serious social issues as their own. I would LOVE to see one of these girls try to get by in subsidized housing and only getting $32 per month on their EBT card (with no kids, you get no Obamabucks and no WIC!) They need to stop making excuses and whining about how awful their lives are. They should check their fucking privilege.

Have to mention something amusing that took place a couple days ago at my place of work.

There was a man who was picking up some supplements with his child. Kid was probably around 12 or 13 and pretty overweight. She goes over to the bars, picks one up and she says to him “buy me this“. Dad says “I’m not buying you food”. She pouts, says to dad “ I hate you”. Then says to me “I hate him”. I joke he seems like a nice enough guy, has a cool mask. It was so hard not to to crack up over this little addict, pouting about not getting snacks, literally the worst thing.

Funny enough she was grabbing a Quest Bar. Would’ve been interesting to see the disappointment if she ate one.

“Why don’t they put more morbidly obese people in fashion ads?”

Well you’re in luck, as I ran across this today:

Funny how all the fat activism and HAES types, when asked how they are oppressed, always come up first with, "I can't get nice clothes in my size!" Usually followed by, "I have to buy two seats on a plane and use a seatbelt extender because I'm a mega fattie and I can't fit in a normal seat!" Not realising that the seatbelts are there for their safety.

But they wail and carry on like there's right wing death squads roaming around harpooning land-belugas on sight.

Some things should just not be sold in size landwhale. She could have at least stood up straight instead of hunching everything into a lump
