There's literally a whole site on tor dedicated to irl photos of kids being spanked so the fact this has a real life counterpart is always creepy as fuck. It's a common theme on inkbunny for some artists there of adults spanking kids so surprised this artist might not prefer to go there, as DA thankfully does seem to have people outspoken against this kind of obvious kink shit with kids involved.
DA is a weird purgatory of kink art where full on NSFW porn is not allowed, but even the weirdest as fuck, obvious kink art is safe so long as no 'arousal' and 'bodily fluids' are shown. The TOS is fucked beyond belief and the front page is just a bunch of fetish stuff.

I think it's one of those things that started off as one thing, and then got twisted into what it is now... I'm blaming anime weebs for this; so here's my thought process.
In japan, they have a pun for golden poop that also is a lucky symbol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kin_no_unko So there's golden poop phone charms and golden poop in some anime and games.
Then they don't bother making it gold, they just have it brown. Or some American company makes it brown because why would poop be gold? Or they just mention 'lucky poop' in anime/games with no context (I keep thinking one of the Tenchi series did this, could be wrong. Some anime that had space ships, which really doesn't narrow it down at all. I know in one Korean MMO you could get a poo hat to wear; it was actually somewhat rare).
So now we got the weebs noticing this weird cultural thing but not having any accurate idea for it, and getting their own version of it. And imports and stuff, because reasons. So American novelty makers are starting to notice a bit, and poop has always been a hit for little kids, so why not? So now it's become a 'We understand the kids like this' marketing thing, so it gets pushed whether it's an actual thing or not. After that, it just becomes a feedback loop.
