Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Whitmer is a nasty ghoul with no charisma, nothing but a career politician. She will say whatever the media wants her to say, whatever the DNC wants her to say, without application of thought or judgment. She's a perfect match for Biden.

... isn't she the one who has literally went full Hitler on her state over the Pinko Pox delusion?

Are they literally just considering her because she's "pissed off the right kinds of people?"

Dear Lord, who thought this was a good idea?

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in talks to become Joe Biden’s VP pick

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has confirmed she is in talks with Joe Biden’s campaign to become his running mate, as the race to join his ticket reaches an unseen fever pitch.

“I’ve had a conversation with some folks,” Whitmer said in a Tuesday morning interview on the “Today” show.

“It was just an opening conversation and it’s not something that I would call a professional formalized vetting,” she added.

A rising star in the Democratic Party who has garnered national headlines through her handling of the Wolverine State’s COVID-19 outbreak, Whitmer is considered one of several women on the shortlist to join Biden’s ticket.

The 48-year-old governor joins Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth, who, according to a Senate colleague, was selected for an interview with the Biden camp over the role.

Whitmer was quick, however, to downplay her angling for the job during the “Today” interview, with Michigan roiling from civil unrest over extensive coronavirus-related lockdowns.

“I am making a little bit of time to stay connected to the campaign, but the most important thing that I have to do right now is be the governor of my home state,” she said. “That’s all that matters to me in this moment.”

Biden has committed to selecting a woman to become his veep, leading to an all-out bidding war between female lawmakers.

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is aggressively campaigning for the job, while California Sen. Kamala Harris, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren — all former 2020 presidential hopefuls — are also angling for the role.

In an interview with The Post last month, President Trump said he believed Biden should choose Warren to join his ticket — saying he believed the presumptive Democratic nominee “owes” Warren the top spot on his ticket because he never would have gotten this far without her help.

That would be a fucking comedy.

This is amazing. Considering Michigan is about 35 seconds from full on civil war because of how she's behaving this is really gonna fuck with blue heads in that state. Every time I don't think it can get more insane and entertaining, I'm always proven wrong.

Maybe the DNC is going for her to make sure Michigan votes for her. She can't be the governor and the presidentVP at the same time, and Michigan wants her out.

Sounds like a fantastic idea to me. I for one can't think of a better running mate for Joe Biden.

I guess "white" is a color, too...

Herr Fuhrvernor wants to become the Candidate Vice Fuhrer? And she thinks that's a good idea, while her state is asking Virginia civil unrest to hold its beer while it does something cool, while the idpol factions in the left are lashing out in their death throes, while women higher on the progressive stack could simultaneously be more valuable and more entertaining as candidates? And all this after Creepy Uncle Joe promised a dindu running mate for the increasingly disaffected black voters?

Do it Joe, no balls.

...or does her olive skin tone in that side-by-side betray some ethnicity that is not obvious when you consider a name like "Gretchen Whitmer"?
If she's picked, she will conveniently remember that non-white ancestor from 200 years ago.

Boy would it be a win - win. A complete asshole out of the Governor's mansion and ensuring the state stays Red, all in one move.
Does she actually have to quit as Governor to run for VP? Seems unlikely that a power-grabber like her will voluntarily give it up, and it's a long shot to the White House.

It would be funny if Trump nicknamed her White Whitmer so they can't forget it.
Whitmer literally comes from old english meaning "white marsh"

Great, now I'm having an existential crisis over whether the fruit is named after the colour, or the colour is named after the fruit.

Thanks

In English, the color is named after the fruit.

More precisely, the name of the color was borrowed directly from the name of the fruit, and had entered the English language through an Old French/Anglo-Norman word ("orenge") which itself was the result of a series of adaptations/loanwords that had passed through numerous languages - to French as "pume orenge," from Italian ("melarancio"), from Arabic ("naranj"), from Persian ("narang"), from Sanskrit ("narangah"), and had possibly originated from another, older, Dravidian (Indian) language.

Prior to (and long after) the word "orange" entering the English language all citrus fruits were simply called "limes." Citrus fruits being used as a scurvy-fighting staple on the ships of the once renown British navy led to the use of the slur "Limey." Before "orange" was used to name the color it was simply described as "red," "yellow," or "yellow-red" in English.

English is a glorious mess of a language, and the intersection of color and linguistics is an interesting topic. Many languages had long had no "proper" name for many hues, such as deep blue which was often just described as "dark," or some analog thereof (ex: the use of "black" to describe the color of seawater). Technology Connections has an interesting video about how brown is not even a "real color" which also touches on descriptors of color in languages.

But as for the topic at hand, Gretchen Whitmer is a power-striving cunt and I hope she gets the VP pick so she can go down in flames with the rest of the DNC.

edit: Changed wording and structure for clarity. Really hated how I originally wrote this post.

I didn't know it was solved that the colour was named after the fruit. I do know colour is a bit iffy. I even heard some conspiracy theory that blue didn't exist until quite recently, which was a bit trippy.

I think that is the only Technology Connections video I haven't watched, specifically because I thought "Brown, isn't that interesting, can skip" but now I think I'll go watch it.
