I think it’s a 50/50 between him being too prideful to admit even small faults, and him trolling the media. It’s like the covfefe thing, it’s obviously just a dumb typo but he doubled down on it anyways and got like 2 weeks of free media coverage.

Whitmer was quick, however, to downplay her angling for the job during the “Today” interview, with Michigan roiling from civil unrest over extensive coronavirus-related lockdowns.
“I am making a little bit of time to stay connected to the campaign, but the most important thing that I have to do right now is be the governor of my home state,” she said. “That’s all that matters to me in this moment.”
Biden has committed to selecting a woman to become his veep, leading to an all-out bidding war between female lawmakers.
Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is aggressively campaigning for the job, while California Sen. Kamala Harris, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren — all former 2020 presidential hopefuls — are also angling for the role.
In an interview with The Post last month, President Trump said he believed Biden should choose Warren to join his ticket — saying he believed the presumptive Democratic nominee “owes” Warren the top spot on his ticket because he never would have gotten this far without her help.
