i think ppp realized that these people arent actually going to ruin friendships, businesses, and each other's lives after every embarrassing scandal they dont care about, even though they wanted everyone else to do so, and is just going to use the fact that they never will as a cudgel. If jim isnt going to call dick a simp might as well just use that to chip away at him and his loose circle with whatever else he can find.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand PPP. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Advanced Esoteric Theology and the still untranslated scribblings of Abdul Alhazred [Alhazred Scribblings 245-74,212, 98,018,201-98,018,205, some sources have found much in Scribbling 250,000,005 but this is is still disputed], most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also PPP's post nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterization- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Christian apologia, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike PPP truly ARE idiots- of course, they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humor in PPP's existential anus exposure which itself is a cryptic reference to Jesus's willing acceptance humiliation and torture on The Cross and also to the Omega in Christ's 'I am the Alpha[gunt] and the Omega[anus]' [Rev 22:13].
