Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I'd like this but with an addendum -- while I doubt we'll see Monica and Jamie let go (but then again, they did cost their company a quarter million or more in legal fees), I do like to think that Sony will have realized they have a... issue with the Texas Clique, and come down on them like a sack of hammers. Seeing Sabat lose his leverage, seeing the local idiots suddenly stop being able to rewrite shows to shove their politics, etc etc.

Aniplex recently redid some anime's subtitles for a single episode because it shoehorned some stupid "social distancing" reference. Was that a Funimation fuckup? Cause if so, that bodes well for the future.

Edit:

It was Kaguya-sama: Love is War S2 episode 5. Looks like it's a direct Aniplex license.

Buuuut...

I imagine "ADR Production" is audio-something, i.e., the dub? I know Funimation does a lot of script editing and the like on their dubs, wonder if they might have done the subtitled translation, too?

It's Subtitled version is on Funi's site, for example.

Edit:

So wait. It's sub-only. Aniplex licensed it, but Funimation's hosting it?

So... what does an ADR do for a subtitle only release? Is "ADR Production" in this instance also referring to who localized it?
They did it again, this time in We Never Learn Season 2

In case people don't want to click out of glorious KF to see the hubbub:

"In the first scene, Nariyuki is attempting to put Asumi at ease, encouraging her to not worry about her words after she almost calls his family poor.

In Funimation’s subtitles, Nariyuki instead asks Asumi to not “be so P.C. [Politically Correct] about it.” "

"The second example sees Nariyuki attempt to compliment Furuhashi by telling her that “small ones [a double joke referencing both her breasts and her physical size) are cute!”, only to be met with Furuhashi yelling at him to “quit with the virtue signaling.”

According to the original Japanese voice track, Furuhashi uses the word “otamegokashi,” or “self-aggrandizement under pretense of aiding another,” in her exclamation. While conceptually similar to ‘virtue signaling,’ the latter carries politically charged connotations within Western discourse. "

"Finally, in a moment which sees the shy and socially awkward Ogata mustering up the courage to present her newfound confidence to Nariyuki, she declares her transformative self to be “Woke Gambler Ogata.”

The original Japanese dialogue reveals that Ogata in fact refers to herself as “kakusei shoubushi Ogata.” Kakusei is used to refer to an “awakening” in power. While ‘woke’ stems from the same etymological origin as ‘awakening,’ it is yet another term that currently carries a drastically different meaning in Western contexts. "

Seems like Aniplex is just as bad as Funimation. Time for nukes?

Nah fam, Cockroaches survive nukes, and Marxist countries are already effectively nuked into oblivion.

If you want to see change, you have to encourage ethical people to work as cheap as SJWs who subsidize their poverty level income with daddy's creditcard, organized group living, and being able to be "paid" in activism. And then you have to overcome their blatant nepotism, entryism, and gatekeeping.
