I'd only heard of both of these guys by cultural osmosis up until today when the H3H3 video showed up in my recommended for some reason. Up until today, I just knew the names vaguely as some kind of Big Internet Bro people on YouTube. I thought I'd bite, and whilst I found the video informational as to why Keemstar is a massive prick who borders on what seems like the sociopathic, something about this Ethan character isn't passing the smell test, either. It takes two douchebags of similar proportions to maintain an e-fight for this many years with this much vitriol and real-world interference. The dick measuring is never going to be over between these two. They're like two guys who keep screaming at the top of their lungs that they're "over it," meanwhile the vein in the forehead gets closer and closer to bursting with every passing second.

I won't exactly grieve if Keemstar is removed in the end, but I do think it's a bad precedent to have set by removing him. Same can be said as well about going after the sponsor, but... Let's be real... These guys were already engaging in various flavours of doxxing, stochastic incitements and all the rest of it, so this going after the sponsor thing is kinda small potatoes for them really. I don't understand why that's almost seen as a bigger deal than the SWATting, which has gotten people actually killed before.

No. Jarbo is like an elemtary student telling the recess lady that you said a bad word. Ethan is the kid whose parents are friends with the principal and when asked "how is school" he tells the principal a kid did something he didn't like so the principal makes doing that against the rules period.

I don't think it's a shit take, necessarily. maybe just a bit optimistic. he's a popular enough creator that people would still associate with him, and keem is hated near universally. personally, if this was directed at a better-liked creator, I'd agree.

Well I say “shit-take” just cause I normally wouldnt wish for people to be deplatformed, other than guys who directly go against YT guidelines to exploit kids (like those creepy elsagate channels, daddyofive, etc). In this case, I mainly just hope that if Keem did in fact get deplatformed, things will only worsen for Ethan. The smugness and self-righteousness he exudes had become so unbearable.

I've totally been noticing that. She really doesn't like his spergouts, but she doesn't want to directly contradict his 'authority' on camera, so she just drops a subtle hint (which he ignores) and begins to seethe while cringing. You can just see it all on her face like an open book and it's uncomfortable af to watch. It reminds me of having to serve as a go-between for a waiter and a racist grandpa.

Shit take: I feel like Ethan getting Keemstar removed from the platform might actually be a "step in the right direction." Why? Well, if the points about Etika + going after sponsors was already enough to get other large YouTubers raising their concerns, deplatforming Keem would do far more harm to Ethan's reputation than good for the platform as a whole. Sure you'll still have a ton of fans championing him as "the guy that slain the evil Keemstar", yet he'll also be known as "the guy that gets people removed from YouTube over petty beef." By that point, you're talking about so many creators wanting nothing to do with him.

Sponsors only care about if their sponsorship is a net postitive, and they have no obligation to make the moral choice. They will turn a blind eye to all the evil things keem has done if they can. H3h3 video, makes it impossible for them to ignore him, so he gets dropped as he should.
This isn't a new concept, nor is it a slippery slope.
He got dropped because the vile things he did could no longer be ignored by his sponsor, this will not harm anyone so long as the content they don't do evil vile things they can be exposed for. Any assertion that this sets a dangerous precedent is pure disingenuous fear-mongering, with absolutely no rational justification.
