OMAHA, Neb. —
When "Jay" first heard the motive behind Mattieo Condoluci's death, he immediately feared for the safety of his family.

"We're sitting ducks," he said.


Prosecutors believe James Fairbanks sent KETV Newswatch 7 an anonymous email about killing Condoluci. The sender said he had been looking for an apartment in the area when he discovered Condoluci on the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. The sender described Condoluci as standing in his driveway pretending to wash his truck while staring at a group of children playing in the street, making him "sick to his stomach." Fairbanks' ex-wife calls Fairbanks a "protector."

Jay is a registered sex offender. He's worried the homicide will encourage vigilante crimes.

"You don't go out there and take it into our own hands and murder and take the life of somebody else because you weren't happy with the judgement that was made," he said.

Jay said he did not know Condoluci and he's not defending him.

"Yes, he did some pretty rotten stuff," Jay said. "It was horrible, horrible stuff. But to say he didn't deserve a second shot and he was trying to prove himself as a godly man, maybe he was a godly man. We don't know that. He doesn't have the opportunity to speak for himself now."

Condoluci's son, Joseph, told KETV Newswatch 7 his dad changed after prison and became a minister.

"I believe he was doing what he could to turn his life around," said Joseph Condoluci. "Who is to say what it takes to turn your life around from that?"

Joseph Condoluci said his father's past is simply that, his past.

"The guy didn't know my dad. He didn't know anything about him. All he knew was stuff that he's seen online," said Joseph Condoluci.

Jay has been calling senators to change Nebraska's sex offender registry to prevent something like this from happening again.

"Nebraska does not need a public-shaming website where people are put on there to be gunned down. Where people are there to be publicly shamed for the rest of their lives without a way of redeeming themselves," he said.

He argues the sex offender registry should be for law enforcement only.

"The safety of which the registry was built on is no longer safe. It's no longer safe for the community, it's no longer safe for the families of those who have registered," Jay said.

To seek for yourself a position of spiritual authority as “atonement” for raping children is pretty off-base to me. Obviously this man’s moral judgement is forever called into question by the fact that he has committed the most egregious act of all, while God can know whether he has truely repented or changed we can’t. Empirically there is not a lot of evidence to support the case for his change of heart. I think it’s prudent to forever avoid placing such a person in a position of moral of spiritual authority, having even confirmed him may be damaging to the faith of parishioners.

If he truly repented for his sins why wouldn’t he be working in anti-peadophila advocacy? The testimony and confession of the killer was very compelling, here was a man who didn’t seek to avoid punishment and laid out compelling reasons to suspect that this man was still a predator. I have heard no reports of torture.

I said it before in the first thread about this shooting, but the world would be a better place if the sex offender registry were changed into a Federally sanctioned and funded bounty list. We can get rid of the sick-fucks who have already taken a child's innocence, and the ones who haven't will be too afraid of getting shot to finally offend. The general idea behind not making rape a capital offence is the "in for a penny in for a pound" thing, basically assuming that a rapist afraid of getting a harsher sentince will let their victim live to avoid a capital charge, while if they are already getting executed for the rape they'll be more likely to tie up loose ends by killing their victims given that they're automatically a witness.

What level of sex offender do you need to be to get on that list? Because pissing in public is considered a sex offense ,and let's be real, who hasn't got shit-faced and pissed on the side of a building because you couldn't hold it?

The reason why public urination ended up on the list is because that is the excuse a lot of perverts try to use to get out of trouble when they are caught whipping their penises out. I've no doubt that there might be a few people who end up on that registry simply from a night of drinking (if they have a terrible lawyer)-- but I'd be willing to bet that those people would generally be able to take a plea for a conviction of public drunkenness and have the sex offender registry level crime of urinating in public dismissed. Most people, though, wouldn't even target someone accused of that. I wouldn't risk jail to kill someone who merely flashed a kid, even purposely. That's not going to damage a kid nearly as much as actually being raped. I'd shun them and keep kids away from them just to be safe, but I'd leave them alone.

A pedo though needs to at least have the fear of God put into him. Maybe killing a few every now and then is just what is needed to get the message across that they need to stay away from kids. If a convicted pedo sees a kid, they should get out of there immediately so that there is no suspicion. We don't need to give the benefit of the doubt to a convicted pedo. They need to prove that they are reformed if they want to re-enter society. Just like an ex crackhead should avoid hanging out in a crack den if they want to stay on the straight and narrow, pedos should voluntarily avoid ALL kids. If they don't -- I don't trust them.

Although, if the guy was just leering at the kids, maybe the first step should have just been gouging his eyes out. That might have fixed the problem without resorting to murder.

Maybe a nice location with good visibility and fair winds so everyone wants to attend and join in with the protest.
You know, with lots of high vantage points so people can take it in from a good distance out.
