So? There's nothing illegal about doing a "deep dive" on anyone, and there's nothing illegal about saying you want other people to do something totally legal. The Farms routinely does just that to all kinds of people for no reason other than thinking it would be funny to do.

Well....maybe. Some of the knee-jerk legislation that's popped up in regards to internet harassment in certain states is pretty over-reaching and draconian, I think the EFF site has some articles on it. Personally, IMHO, I think the crux of it is going to be how much of a direct line can be drawn between the request for a deep-dive and the subsequent actions of WC, and the context and motives that can attributed to the request for a deep-dive.

I think people saying it's definate win or lose are being optimistic. It's a really murky and largely untested area and it's going to be interesting, and somewhat concerning, to watch how it unfolds.

It seems pretty optimistic to me to say that Nick is anything but chummy with Ethan. I'm not sure what the deal is there but I've never seen Nick do anything but back Ethan up when it comes down to it.

I think it would be colossally stupid for Preston to go on the show of a lawyer who is buddies with his target for litigation. If Nick was smart about it he could squeeze Poulter for info or get him to say something that might scuttle the whole case.

As cost benefit analysis goes, a friendly recorded talk with the lawyer buddy of the guy you wanna sue is a whole lot of risk for very little likely reward. I mean he can't honestly expect Nick to go easy on him when he's threatening Nick's friend with criminal charges and probable LOLsuits to follow.
