Some Russian statistics. Believe the numbers are undereported across the board. The cities tend to have a lot of multi-story apartment blocks, very good for spreading respiratory diseases. Add a weak Russian medical system to that and you can imagine the likelihood of large numbers of cases and large numbers of dead.

I don’t think so. They did shut down the border very quickly.

Pretty funny how every soy was saying WHY DON'T YOU BUY EVERYTHING ONLINE when the Little Honecker's of America even want to switch the spigot off for the mail "for your own good".
It will be a memorable sight to behold. Honecker Vs Drumpf

Lake of the Ozarks is open and packed. Naturally, Twitter is undergoing a fit of tard rage. Must be assblasted that the virus has only been pulverizing blue states.
Blue states have higher pop density. The leeches flock to the gibs.

Just like New York City.

Absurd things that happen in Europe:

Poland decided in April to have a quarantine for everyone coming into Poland except for lorry drivers.

Then on 4 May they allowed everyone who is abroad for work in but made an exception for "people executing medical professions" and people working "in houses for social help" (the latter just exist in Poland), both still needed a quarantine no matter what they actually did:

(Polish) https://www.gov.pl/web/mswia/nowe-zasady-kwarantanny-po-przekroczeniu-granicy

This meant women registered in Germany (where it's legal) as practising whores could travel to Poland without a quarantine, while a radiologist who looks at bones online and never sees a live patient needed a quarantine.

This was corrected on 16 May (Polish: https://www.strazgraniczna.pl/pl/aktualnosci/8448,Koronawirus-zasady-kwarantanny.html )

Currently people in Poland need to wear a mask in public (Polish: http://dziennikustaw.gov.pl/D2020000079201.pdf )

but the law provides for some exceptions, among which "health reasons" and the law expressly says "no medical certificate is required"

so first anyone can say the mask is detrimental to their health (being nervous is a medical condition)

second they make people wear a mask because of a sickness but if someone is sick they are exempt from a mask.

Have been tested for COVID on Friday have just about every symptom including gastric (which I didnt even know was a symptom)
Had pneumonia weeks ago but now doctor is certain, should have results in 2-5 buis days.
I have immune issues and has part of my kidney removed from cancer in October so this is no good if its positive, doctor might admit me when results come back.

Hope you all are ok.. I took every precaution and have no idea how I got this if I did..

We've got some pretty decent treatment options now, and strategies for assistance, at whatever stage you're at in disease progression. So, bad, yeah. But you're not flying blind, like how it's been in the past.

Of course, due to my medical history and disease I have this could turn to a bad situation but we will see, I am keeping positive this isnt my first go round with sicknesses and lord know it wont be my last.

So today no real news so far. Everything's been tranquil and with everyone going into reopening mode morale is back to top notch. At least outside of the medical union circles and area affected by Los Pascuales. But you know... Sanchez has said some autonomies will be leaving the lockdown completely "on the following days" and still seems bound to drop the lockdown altogether next vote. So shit's advancing and if progress is made reliably spaniards can cooperate much better than usually.

But I do have one really funny new for you:
So, some background. Up until now we've been hearing a lot about spaniards stuck outside trying to repatriate, and that was quite harrowing. Specialy those stuck on countries that currently might be going to shit. And then we got Mr Matthews.

Mr Matthews is a canadian tourist that every year goes to vacation on Grazalema, a small village in Cadiz, for a week. This year that week just so happened to coincide with the day the lockdown was anounced. And while most tourists started repatriating and the hostel he was staying at was set to close he just asked the owner if he could stay for the lockdown, claiming "Canada is too cold." And she said fine, whatever. And so there has this mofo stayed for this time, only having contact with the owner who decided to make food for one more when cooking for her family and bring it to him until he decided to tell her he'd rather not abuse her charity (EDIT: Possible translation mistake. See https://kiwifarms.net/threads/wuhan-coronavirus-megathread.65421/post-6534128 for clarification. I don't mean he wasn't paying. I think he was.) and would be eating outside once restaurants opened. And now some neighbors are asking for like a street plaque or some shit like that to "remember Mr Matthews due to his show of loyalty to the village", which most understand means "I mean really he ran so far out of fucks to give that we really wanna get a nice decoration so we can tell others this story. Because it's fucking hilarious." Long live that one canadian bastard, his utter apathy will be greatly remembered. That's a hero if I've ever seen one.

interesting but the article never said he was staying for free, it just says he asked to stay, he stayed and was getting the food in his room :-) who knows the story behind, maybe he's old, has no family in Canada so why not stay in warm Spain instead of cold Canada?

I mean he sounds old, right? comes every year, when the reporter came "he was resting". Doesn't really seem to have anyone, in Canada maybe he didn't have anyone to cook or wash his clothes, so Spain seems reasonable imho. At least she had a customer while everyone was away. :-)

We're going to get the Chinamen that did this. Don't worry. Stay strong.

I'm undoubtedly stating the incredibly fucking obvious at this point, but I can't help but notice that, in my neck of the woods at least, it sure is awfully convenient how only relatively recently has the exceptional "Everyone must wear masks everywhere!" bullshit rolled out when absolutely none of that was happening the past couple months when the hysteria was at its peak.

It's almost like the powers that be were aware the weather was warming and people were at the brink of throwing up their hands, going "Fuck this" and getting on with their lives. So as a last ditch effort they slammed this mask shit last minute to keep the fearmongering going just a little bit longer. Because let's face it, outside of Asian countries where it's more commonplace, the image of a lot of people wearing masks induces fear. It's in every apocalyptic movie involving a disease, we've been raised to be scared of such a sight. The Little Hitlers know this and are using their every advantage while they still can.

I assume he was paying. If you mean because of my use of the word charity it might just be a translation error on my part. I meant the food part. The specific sentence on the article is ", que prefería comer fuera para no darme más trabajo"

Literally translated as "he preferred to eat outside so as to not give her more work", in spain we use "not abuse charity" to reject any percieved favors, small as they may be, not just like formal charity stuff. So when trying to simplify that's what came to my mind as an apropiate translation, if this is not how the outside uses those words I am sorry.

Yeah he really sounds old. In my experience and local stereotypes old tourists are the nicest by far. And are also astonishingly out of fucks in general. But you gotta admit staying in Grazalema, one of the villages affected by the corruption of Los Pascuales and the PPE shortage, in the middle of a pandemic, when you got the option of going to motherfucking Canada with its famously overfunded healthcare. Just... Either he had the most courage in the world. Or he's seen death and she didn't scare him. Either way, that attitude is what in spain we consider praiseworthy that's for sure!

Yup, power trips are more addictive than cigarettes or heroin. The wise person remembers this for election time. The little Hitlers have shown their true colors. They are counting on the sheeple to forget this, in due time. I don't think so. Anyone who votes to re-elect them is the dumbest motherfucker on Earth.

Would also say people are becoming less sensitive to the sight of people wearing masks. If everyone was wearing the exact same type of mask, people would be more concerned. But there are more styles of masks out there than can be imagined. Sort of like everyone having to wear a hat outside. Takes away some of the intimidation factor. And as soon as the mask requirement is dropped, believe very, very few will choose to wear masks.

Some say wearing masks will be a new cultural norm. No fucking way. When something has been imposed on you, for any reason, you are extremely unlikely to continue with it once it isn't required. And any Karen with the sheer gall to ask someone where their mask is deserves what she gets. Just waiting to tell a Karen my mask is shoved up Newsom's ass.

On a different subject, have seen advertisements in the local alternative weekly about the free meals for qualifying seniors. Had a picture of one of the meals. I've shit better-looking stuff than that. Makes me glad I don't qualify.

Or a tyrant waiting in the wings. But your analysis I think would account for 99.99% of such voters.

You say that, but after SARS way back in the day, a lot of chinks (and even EAsians outside of the sinosphere) continued wearing them. It reminds me of ex-convicts who commit crimes just because they were so conditioned to living in the cooler that they can't accept life outside of it.

I hear you, but the ex-cons were immersed in the prison environment for years at a time. Here, the mask requirement has been around only for weeks, and only in certain areas. Hasn't had enough time to sink in deeply with that many people. Some in high-risk groups will likely wear the masks, but in general there will be a sigh of relief as they toss the mask into the trash. Yeah, lived in Korea for over three years total, two different times. Saw some people wearing masks, not that many, and I went around much of the country.

The masks are also influenced by the fact that now we have masks. Whereas before we didn't. I do apreciate that at least Illa was honest about that. It does justify the joke we passed around in the past of how bureaucratically spain just handled everything as "do we have enough material to do it? If no: there's no need to do it. If yes: mandatory." Because... yeah that's really what we did in the end. But hey. "I did it when I could" is a good reason to start doing it, if it actually works. I do apreciate that here they are only mandatory on small rooms public transports and that shit and that Fernando Simon has emphasized over and over again that the 2 meter separation is the only reliable way to stop this and it makes masks useless, which is why they're only mandatory on crowded places. I wish everyone else had made that clear on other countries too.

As for the food... Honestly the big ol' plate of Schlop is one of those things where, I mean, I do get why it is done nutritionally. Like, it has enough nutrients, and it can incorporate a lot of water and "filling" food to make it, you know, keep the hunger away. It is also easy to swallow and digest so the sick can take it and it's also easy to serve and cook so even if yout volunteers suck ass they'll have to work hard to manage to fuck it up noticeably.

But once you step back, it's like. Having to eat nothing but mushy, bland, almost-odorless, visually unappealing goop day after day... That's up there on the list of tortures that should be reserved for pedofiles and people who talk at the theater. Just, man that sucks. It's funny in a way. Most of spain's traditional cuisine are dishes made because of poverty with the same purpose as grey goop. Like Callos, Cocido, Ropavieja, Gazpacho, Salmorejo, Ajoblanco, Pan de Cadiz, etc. And over here from what I've seen at least down south most soup kitchens just go do those based on wtf they have in stock that day, on these white plastic trays with like dish-shaped protuberances on them, and honestly. I mean it's not exactly high tier cuisine, they don't do them as well as the restaurants, specially because of lack of spices. But at least it's not depressing. So that sometimes makes me think why the hell soup kitchens on other places have devolved into ooze factories. I mean, really, I'm sure traditional cuisine on most of the world is as full with cheap shit as it is in spain. If there's one group of people that knew damned well what hunger was that'd be medieval peasants, so outside of USA's lack of history everyone else should've learned a few recipes. And USA had enough migration from the Irish and Italians to get some pointers. So, as much as shitting on charity gotta be the most insensitive thing I've done so far. I must say... Take a break from the bloody puree some days, damnit.

All it took for Kiwis to give up their rights and cede power to their government to implement extreme restrictions was some mom jokes? Dawg, I wouldn't be too proud of that.

I don't really understand, why is New Zealand consider as the least corrupt when their politicians can censor shit and sell a lockdown with mom jokes. Are kiwis just blindly obeying everythibg their government says?
