Stuff like Weekend Web and Photoshop Phriday *should* be easy to get going again. I also don't understand why he can't hit up some struggling writers and toss them beer money to write a 2nd-rate Onion editorial. Even the return of Leonard J. Crabs could have been a step in the right direction.
Lowtax is such a cunt. I honestly believe anyone who posted in this thread would be able to increase profitability and Make Something Awful Great Again if you gave them all the resources Lowtax has at his disposal. There's just no thought or effort. Clearly this isn't anything new, but it really needs to be said that SA could still be salavaged. SA's time as Reddit Before Reddit is done, and obviously the forums would have to be shut down for the update (which would be perfect for the revamp), but it could be salvaged. Of particular interest is someone with no life could get paid bus money to cut and paste the more interesting threads into articles. Fuck, man. It's not the Library of Alexandria but the SA Forums have all sorts of material that should've been archived by now.

First I'd hire someone like nool to back up any content worth saving and make a static archive of it and fold it into a brand new XenForo 2 installation. Then hire at least one super-mod and actually pay them some fixed amount of money which they can use however they like, paying themselves and hiring some other mods for some nominal amount of pay but not "doing it for free."
Then I'd completely ban power leveling and shit like that, and permanently ban anyone who does that shit. Bye bye troons.
Other than that, no bans for anything but spamming or fedposting.
Then see what happens and whether it can still be salvaged, or whether it's still worthless and sell the domain to Russian malware porn criminals if it isn't.

I imagine Low T reading this thread, stumbling upon the step by step instructions on how to deal with various issues (at least starting, at least a plan), and ignoring them because everyone else is stupid EXCEPT HIM.

There is nothing left to save at SA.
Most of the non-screaming tranny population is just inertia posters. There are other forums and subreddits and whatnot that would actually serve their needs better, but they are getting a good enough™ experience from SA. Unless you could change the back end while maintaining near 100% 1 to 1 UI matching on everything the average user interacts with on a routine basis, you're going to lose these inertials and send them to one of the better options.
There are lots of greasemonkey shit that depends on SA's fucked up coding, so you lose those eyeballs as well.
But there's no reason to bother. Anyone talented has left. Why hover around SA hoping you don't make a mod feel threatened when you can go post your creative shit on reddit and reach a larger, non-paywalled audience?
The remaining base is just screeching trannies, because the bespoke hugbox experience where the mods are white-guilt tripped into catering to their every whim is what they want. They don't want new features or w/e. They only need the tools available that allow them to enact purity spiraling. The only reason they complain about search not working is it makes it hard for them to hunt up problematic posts from last decade to get the poster banned because they had a less than 100% lockstep opinion about if nature documentaries about lions should be purged because they support the gender binary and are default racist for not addressing colonialism.
