Also, the teeth look different in the Kik photo because the low lighting is causing the camera flash to glare off of her teeth, obscuring the fine details from view.

It's performing calculations. That's why it needs higher resolution photos. Because if it doesn't even have that then its true positives and true negatives become even closer to being just as meaningless as its false positives and false negatives.
