So somebody found out that if you clear up the writing around the newspaper ad in the third game it actually tells you a few things about the developement of the first game. Its actually pretty interesting to read since it gives you a lot of the ideas behind everything in the game like:
- Scotts main insperation for the game was his odd affinity for broken machines. He says that in most of his games he would always add a lot of broken machines, and he never really knew why and he actually found it slightly depressing. When he was coming up with ideas for his then last attempt at making a successful game he began to imagine broken machines coming after him, and it eventally evolved into malfunctioning animatronics.
- Scott is terrified of Bonnie. He says that when he was working on the game he would constantly have nightmares of Bonnie standing in the middle of his doorway and as a way of dealing with this he would close his doors before going to bed. This is probably the reason there are so many Bonnie related hallucinations, and the reason that spring trap, the most terrifying animatronic in the game, is actually based on bonnie
- Freddy was the only character in the game that had a name during developement. The rest were given placeholder names based on their animal themes. In the end Scott became attached to their nicknames and decided to make them official.
- Scott developed Foxy's model during a bumpy cross country trip, which caused him to constantly mess up parts of his body. This actually led to his idea of makinf foxy look ratty and damaged like he is in the final game
- Freddy was never meant to move when the building had power. But this was changed because he wanted the titular character to be more of a threat.
- Scott's kids initially offered to test the jumpscares to see if they were actually scary. But after they saw Foxy running towards them they quickly gave up their job out of fear.
