Considering that 40-50 is the time when many man and womanchildren face the loss of their parents and the first pets they got as adults, AND the fact that many of them failed to fulfill their dreams of a media-based career, and it's going to be brutal for a lot of them. Also, if they have a toxic personality, then they've probably left a lot of burning bridges in their wake. A lot of these washouts may take solace in their nieces and nephews (should they have any,) but a lot of them are just going to find themselves living alone in places too expensive for them to afford. Some of them may have to go crawling to relatives whose politics they hate just to have a roof over their heads. And none of what I just said takes into account the fact that their long-abused-with-drugs-or-food bodies are starting to fail them. Ever hear 50 to 60 year olds have a conversation? Even if they're relatively healthy, they're talking about health issues a good chunk of the time.
Imagine being a deathfat who's spent the last 40 years of your life obsessing over the relationship diagrams of your favorite cartoon lesbian shows and suddenly you collapse, short of breath. You get brought to a hospital where your doctor tells you that your kidneys are failing and you have to lose weight NOW if you want to live. Imagine facing death and the prospect of an afterlife that you probably don't believe in because you hang around with fedoratippers who are too cool for that sort of thing. The stuff that you used to obsess over suddenly seems to pale in significance. You used to send death threats to other people during shipping wars, and now none of it seems as remotely as important as you thought it was. You try to rationalize all of the time you spent on it, saying that you were fighting for representation or social justice or some crap like that, but at the end of the day, you were just one toddler screaming at another toddler on Twitter because some writer denied you your
favorite toy One True Pairing.
Oh yeah. It's gonna be a bloodbath, folks.
