If you alter the DNA of your kid to have a different hair, body type, or attributes than what runs in your genetics are you cucking yourself?

Does raising a child with different DNA, even though you helped create it, make you a cuck or is there some weird ownership thing with babies?

Personally I think it makes you a cuck.

Anyways changing the DNA doesn't mean no familial connection, you can also make the same argument for people who use sperm donors.

Well the average human mutation rate is about 64 new mutations per generation (and mutations are more than twice as common in the male genome than the female's). So by your logic, all parents are cucked because all of their offspring contain genetic material that's not theirs.
I'm kinda curious whether widespread use of this tech would result in a genetic bottleneck though. We'd all elect to have our children be smarter, stronger, more attractive, etc. How much human genetic diversity would end up being wiped away if we had control of the traits our offspring have?

Looking at the ravage of dog breeding, I think it pretty gullible to expect that the ubermetch that will result will be without any kind of deleterious allele cause be inbreeding via poor genetic diversity, if genetic manipulation of offspring is not only legal but affordable
 
We're already living in a world where people have designer babies that are made to be intentionally deaf, so get fucked.
 
It doesn't make you a cuck any more than it would to edit your own genetics to improve yourself, if that were possible. You're taking yourself and choosing to improve upon it or remove weakness. DNA strives to improve itself constantly - through evolution and through combining with the best possible partners it is able. If you've found a third way to do so, that's life.

DNA doesn't strive to do anything. It isn't conscious. It's just that whatever results in better longevity and spread proliferates. That's it.

And it runs into the Ship of Theseus. If every piece of your DNA is changed, into that of someone else, superior or otherwise, are you still you?

I think you're just being nitpicky here. We anthropomorphize shit all the time to make the explanation easier. Everyone (except some creationists) knows evolution isn't a conscious force that "wants" anything. It's just common to talk about it in terms of goals because it's simpler that way.

As far as the ship of Theseus thing goes: you don't have any of the matter you were born with. You shat it out and replaced it with whatever you ate many times over. So genetics doesn't even scratch the surface on that note. We're dealing with a ship of Theseus problem regardless.

You can see clearly that this is taking the ship of Theseus to a whole other level. This isn't replacing everypart of the a ship; this is replacing every part of the ship and building something with a different blueprint. Yes, the steamboat will be a better ship, but it will share neither parts, nor design with the previous one.

The real question is "what difference does it make?" Does the question even make sense?
This is where we diverge from armchair science to armchair philosophy: Is there some sort of "you-ness" that "you" possess? Does the real "you" die at some point in this genetic modification process only to be replaced by an imposter in a body that's not technically even yours now? We could go even further with this line of sophistry by arguing about whether 6 year old "you" is the "you" that you are today regardless of any form of genetic modification. Anything "you" experienced back then is not something you're experiencing now, nor is what "you" will be experiencing 5 minutes from now. I could go as far as to say that "you" only exist for the briefest moment that you can possibly experience, only to be replaced by a "you" that has had said experience.

All the pseudo-babble aside, the bottom line is that none of this shit matters. You (or "you" as it may be) are probably better off not worrying about it.
