They would or could have the same qualification as all of Trump's appointees. Betsy Devos is a private schooled ultra religious silver spooner who should not be in charge of public schools, yet she is anyway.
Betsy DeVos is doing God's work bringing a minimum standard of due process to college kangaroo courts, and removing artificial hurdles to school choice.
She's also taken first steps to try and reform the idiotic Federal Student Loan system that has caused college admission costs, college administration sizes, and student debt to skyrocket.
(Meanwhile, the Left wants to keep the unsustainable system in place and just have taxpayers regularly bail out the students' debts - which would create even more destructive incentives, and basically be an unjust distribution of wealth from the working class to the college-educated class.)
In any case, the idea that an Education Minister
must be a lackey of public school teachers unions in order to "qualify" for the position, may be the consensus among leftists but it's not in fact a legal requirement.
DeVos is qualified.
Personally, I want the EPA to not be under regulatory capture anymore. The GOP does not give a fuck about the environment.
Do you even know what regulatory capture is?
Hint: It happens when a party (usually Democrats)
expands the power and scope of regulatory agencies, and
passes additional regulations in the form of massive complicated bills that none of the congressmen have actually read because they "have to pass it in order to find out what's in it".
The Republican ideal of removing regulatory cruft is the
bane of regulatory capture, because it's that cruft - the thousands upon thousands of pages of complex and contradictory regulations - that allows corporate lobbyists to sneak in the pork which helps them keep their competitors down.
