Look I'm not defending them but just in the interest of reality and truth, the tear gas came before the fires. They were being pretty peaceful and the police were fucking with them. Then all hell broke loose after the cops had repeatedly escalated it all day long.

tear gas came out after rioters forcibly breached a police barricade into one of their stations
