You never really can tell about these things. What will matter is how the Governor responds to what goes down tonight. A weak response to more violence will pretty much encourage more devastation. By dawn there needs to be a major military presence on the streets to make it clear the shows over. That is what ultimately ended the LA riots. The Army didn't have to do anything. They simply had to be there. Nobody is going to argue with a couple hundred dudes packing M-16s and squad automatic weapons.

I've been trying to catch up for like 2 hours. I go off to do something and come back and I've got 5 more pages to wading to do.

Look I'm not defending them but just in the interest of reality and truth, the tear gas came before the fires. They were being pretty peaceful and the police were fucking with them. Then all hell broke loose after the cops had repeatedly escalated it all day long.

Yeah, that's not true. The police have been remarkable in their restraint so far. Disgusting restrained! They've lobbed bombs at police and firefighters for hours last night and the police did nothing. They should have mowed them all down right there.

The peaceful protesters have been a rarity, most people there are not protesters, they are rioters. They are there for loot and mayhem, not because they are aggrieved, but because they are lowlife scumbags who just want free shit/to break shit. The police should be proactive to break up these riots. Every person out after dark should be brained before they brain someone innocent.
