I'm an Asian-American ""minority"" and I don't understand why this whole "band together or else you're just as part of the racism problem with your privilege" thing even exists in the first place. I have no obligation to be "supporting" any race regardless of skin color or the white people bad history. Cotton was not only not the main crop of America, but the Southern states are widely considered to have become poorer for their use of slavery, not richer. Economic development in the free north was substantially higher.

Apparently, the rioters have broken into at least 1 precinct, and gained access to the armoury and evidence room, because we definitely need joggers armed with police gear. Thank fuck the National Guard is going in, I'm legit hoping for some serious ass-whuppings.

The “Siamese Cat Song” is a racist caricature of what white people thought of Asian people at the time. Their names are racist (“Si” and “Am”), their design is racist (those teeth), their voices are racist (that broken English and accent), and the music is racist (that gong).

Other search engines like Yahoo! have links to articles like "Disney Replacing Problematic 'Siamese Cat' Song From 'Lady ...". Although at least DuckDuckGo has no politics in the first page.

tl;dr: Even a Di$ney song is political in the Current Year, and Google is still trying to "socially engineer" you how to think.

In fact, Stonewall was considered one of the seediest and most dangerous bars among the gay community in New York City in the 1960's. The Mafia controlled most of the gay bars back then since it was a steady source of income in an inherently black market, and Stonewall got raided partly due to missed protection money payments and partly because the mobsters who shook down the place didn't want to be associated with the place because of what went on there.

As a general rule, bars that didn't pay their protection money or were so seedy to the point of being a liability got raided thanks to "anonymous" tips to NYPD officers that the mob already had on the take.

The Mafia has always been very homophobic, but they were fine with protecting the other gay bars so long as the money kept rolling in. But they drew the line at chickenhawk places, since even among criminals, pedos are considered scum.

Granted, because of the Stonewall riots, the more legit LGB rights movement was able to get going, but given the culture of the era, it could've happened at some other less seedy place sooner or later and what really helped the LGBT community was the DSM removing homosexuality and bisexuality from the list of criminal paraphilia disorders in 1973.

There's another piece to the puzzle that, interestingly, Slate reported on. Though they have a spin on what the problem was as always. They talk about Stonewall later on, but the "doorman" for the Stonewall Inn was a famous mafia member who trafficked young boys for major politicians and avoided prosecution because he had blackmail material on them. He became a gay rights icon after that.

Protesting is one thing, rioting is a whole different ball game. Once you start fucking with the lives or property of other people, you've officially become the aggressor. I might have had some sympathy for their side of the issue had they not destroyed their community in a childish tantrum. Now, I couldn't give any fucks if the National Guard wants to step in.
