Twitter Hides POTUS Tweet

Aaaand Trump went full re.tard.

I really, really wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not. Like I said in the other Section 230 thread if it gets fucked with AT ALL then nobody gets to enjoy the internet anymore.
The internet stopped being fun before most of the current users were born.

Delete it all. Let us go back to heavily segregated forums in the corners of the internet.
It's not going away I don't think. The powers that be have too much of a vested interest in controlling the population and what people can see. The problem is that any competition is attacked from all angles, especially financial.

Maybe I'm just dumb and don't understand American politics but the president can't just repeal an entire section of the very important legal congress thingy right? Like he doesn't just have the power to magically do that? I assume it would be a pretty long process if he was serious about it.

The executive branch has a certain amount of leeway with regards to the interpretation and enforcement of legislation (Although the interpretation part of it ultimately gets decided by the judiciary once things actually happen).

Enough random legislation has been put out and worded in vague enough ways over the past couple of centuries that by choosing how the executive branch interprets and enforces already existing legislation the executive branch can on a whim toggle a lot of things.

On a more local level: Many cities or states have centuries-old laws against wearing masks in public. Those laws are sometimes enforced (such as during protests/riots), but recently are being completely ignored due to the plague narrative. The governors/mayors of those locations have the power to make masks illegal by enforcing the legislation, but they are not required to.

If somebody's old enough to run for president, they're too old to understand the internet. Seemed like common sense to me. I thought the rallying around Trump as "the glorious internet free speech president" was a fucking meme.

If they repeal Section 230 of the CDA I will close this site the same day and none of you will hear from me again.
I lost track; would that be the third or the fourth time Kiwifarms has been gone for good with no chance of revival?

Jumping to histrionics very reminiscent of many lolcows. Nothing is done, yet. Sleep it off, Null.
I have been talking about the sanctity of Section 230 for years. It's in our fucking "how is this site legal" help page that has existed for years. I have warned time and time again that if this fat motherfucker touches Section 230 that is all he will ever be remembered for.

Trump is retarded. Boomers are retarded. Anyone willing to sacrifice liberty to get back at this mean private business for not letting you say whatever you want on their private platform is retarded. If you don't like it, stop using Twitter and make your own platform. I'm sick of this tyranny from people who pretend to love freedom and the Constitution.

Corona-Chan didn't do its job. We could have been free.
Section 230 of the CDA is a statue giving website operators broad immunity from liability for content posted by users.

Effectively what it means is anything can be posted on these sites and the operators are immune from legal action. This is true so long as they don't editorialize the content, which makes them a publisher.

People at Google, Facebook and Twitter have discussed using characteristic features in their platforms to swing elections. They throw attention to the things they want large populations to see and suppress any information that counters it. I doubt lawmakers thought this was possible when the CDA was drafted, in the days before smartphones and ubiquitous Internet access.

Fail to see how the goals of liberty or freedom are achieved by allowing a few small corporations to control public opinion. Holding the accountable would have a huge impact on the quality of life for most people in America. At worst, the EO aims to enforce the law according to it's original intent.

Good, repeal it. The internet needs to start from scratch.

It won't start from scratch. It won't go back to the amazing Wild West Internet of the 90s and early 2000s. It will be heavily controlled by every server that doesn't want to be prosecuted because someone made fun of trannies on their platform. This is bad news for everyone, dude.
