U.S. Riots of May 2020 over George Floyd and others - ITT: a bunch of faggots butthurt about worthless internet stickers

It's just that I'm baffled that they didn't use non-lethal methods like rubber bullets, pepper spray, and whatever else to bring back order. I know it will hurt nonetheless, but the riots in 1992 LA lasted for seven days on the addition of random murders happening from police standing around for nothing until military had enough and came to shut them up. Here, military and secret service are about but they're standing around too.

It's about optics. The best outcome is the protestors chant and complain for a while and then disperse on their own. If that happens, they get minimal attention and lose momentum for the next night. That's especially true for the National Guard, due to the extra implications of military force being used against civilians.

The DC protests seemed pretty tame really, so I'm not surprised they're just trying to wait it out. Minneapolis on the other hand...

Because of course the lunatics and autists over in the Weeb Wars have to chime in.
This is going to effectively destroy Minneapolis. Big box businesses will move out. Small businesses won't come back. Folks who can afford to will move out. Minneapolis will likely be the next Detroit.
Detroit but with Somalis and Hmongs. At least people fleeing Minneapolis aren't be any worse than your usual big city liberal types. Be thankful this shit didn't start in Austin or California.

Right. That, and the first people to actually kick things off will be the first ones crucified in the court of public opinion, especially with everyone carrying around recording devices and instantaneous access to a worldwide forum.

"A lie can make it halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on". That is more true than ever, these days.

Dumping more videos. They've gathered around Trump Tower.

The people crucified in the court of public opinion will be whoever the media chooses to vilify for this one.

Sadly.

Yeah, no matter how much the cops or National Guard are provoked, they'll get the lion's share of the blame if something happens. Which makes it even less worthwhile to engage.
