Sort of, but "soccer moms" are generally uptight "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" type parents who think the world revolves around their kids. "Karens" can be like that, but can be applied more broadly to uptight busy-bodies with or without children. I don't know why the name Karen was picked to describe this kind of person, though. But, one origin story I've heard was that a Redditor was describing his abusive ex-wife who didn't want to allow him to have his court-ordered visitation with their kids, and whose name happened to be Karen.

I've been seeing it pop up since at least around 2015-2016. It blew up more this year with people calling "Karen" a slur against white women. As one, I don't think it is a slur but I could understand why it'd upset people.
