It is no small secret that cities in general can be wracked with sudden lawlessness in ways that rural areas cannot be by their very nature (less densely populated, less mass transit, etc.) A move of just a few miles can make all the difference in the world when it comes to Urban crime problems. Yes, you still have the problem of actually defending yourself, but the threat of a random mob breaking in and stealing your shit is significantly less.

The best solution of course is to immigrate to a State that actually respects one's right to protect themselves (and their property). The aphorism, An Armed Society is a Polite Society, is a good rule of thumb for a reason. Just don't bring Blue State politics with you.

Also, as a polite reminder to those who are feeling down: Twitter does not represent reality, Celebrities are dancing monkeys who are not paid for their intelligence, and the mainstream media has had negative amounts of influence for years now. Their opinions do not matter, their bail money will be taken when their precious bailee's skip town, and this will all be forgotten about in a couple of months.

There's always crazy shit going on and after a bit of thinking on it you see there is nothing to gain only a lot to lose. Tearing up cities can't bring the life of one man back it also won't see justice for the cop that killed the man because all the rioting will be doing more harm over the course of time than the situation that sparked all this craziness which happened in minutes. This is the same cycle you see with a lot of things where a situation like this come up and you got people on both sides throwing their opinions all around on social media but at the end of the day whether or not this does have long lasting effects no side actually wins anything because the system will remain the same.
