Civil Rights movement was a coup and all these problems existed by the mid 90s.
Segregation was borders. The idea of black people entering white neighborhoods or white restaurants was just as crazy as Mexicans entering American cities and living next to Americans. Liberals said that segregation was racist, oppressive, exact same way they are saying borders are racist today. Their goal was to give blacks "equality" just like their goal is to give Hispanics "amnesty" today. equality with US citizens.
Even before the civil rights movement began, the system was rigged. The US govt was liberal and the SCOUTS legislated from the bench by removing separate but equal. White southerners never voted to give blacks citizenship (14A). The Northern govt forced the 14A on them and then forced integration by gun point (using FORCE, VIOLENCE!) in the 1950s. Universities were liberal for decades and they created new terms like "racism, discrimination. prejudice, white supremacy" just like liberals are creating terms like "white privilege. microaggressions, institutionalized racism, etc." today.
Northern university liberals invaded the south, radicalized the Negros. Told them they were "oppressed" Instigated the entire movement. The only organization that white southerners had to fight back was the KKK and local govt. This talk about "non-violent" is bullshit. If blacks are invading white areas, shutting down white establishments and you cannot use violence then they auto-win. Protests regardless of violence are still undemocratic, they are a form of extortion. The local govt tried to use 1960s boomertech non-lethal force to stop the blacks (watercannons and dogs). Of course the media cherry picked the images and spun a narrative against the whites. Media cherry picked the Emmett Till case to create a bias against all southern whites the same way they are doing today with these BLM narratives and once the protests wouldn't stop, eventually southerners had to resort to force, they tried sending a warning through the death of " Murders of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner" which backfired because the FBI would then be used to attack any white activist.
End result of civil rights movement was radicalizing the blacks which eventually did turn the protests violent. This caused white flight in cities like Detroit and the crime increase during the next few decades which then lead to the 1994 crime bill. The black community lost all it's good leadership as the blacks that could escape did escape. Most blacks never agreed with the white liberal vision of integration, they thought "freedom now" meant "black supremacy" freedom to vote for blacks, they didn't want to vote for whites or live with whites. Right before his death MLK, basically become black panther, he wanted reparations.

The northern whites were virtue signaling during the entire civil rights movement but once they saw their kids forced to integrate with blacks, forced busing, they white flighted to avoid the damage they caused. Civil Rights Act has caused massive political correctness by forcing whites to self censor regarding race because if they are even accidentally accused of racism, it can end their career. This self censorship breeds massive resentment leading to candidates like Trump. All racial science was suppressed and guidelines written to make sure science would be politically correct by the UN. TV shows like "All in the Family" were created to teach whites to attack any white that expressed racial awareness or preference. Textbooks were written in the schools to idolize MLK like American's Vladimir Lenin and whitewash the effects of the movement. All of this was in place even by the 90s.
Civil rights movement was the big lie. It was a coup and a whitewash and no different the BLM narrative today where all the policies are being shoved on us top to bottom by big institutions. The big difference today is we have the social media to counter the msm narrative. Obama would be MLK if we didn't have the internet.
That's why the boomers loved Happy Days in the 1970s. They would pretend the 1960s never happened and they were still living in the 1950s.
