About 1/4th of a year of this shit now.

I still think everyone wearing masks is creepy.

I still think everyone is overreacting.

And I'm definitely sick and tired of "social distancing".
I really want to know the results in the next couple weeks after the Riots quells down
  • if cases goes up you can't blame the boomer protesters a couple weeks ago because they are either back at home or back in their shops. You'd have to blame antifa and the rioters. Also they are the ones getting sicked and dying
-------------
  • If cases are still the same/drop even further when the riots are done all the outdoor festivals and events being canceled this year did so for no reason because there rioters are covered in blood, coughing like no tomorrow because of tear gas, and who knows what kind of dirty shit these idiots are doing in the alleys
It's pretty much win-win

Saw a little thing on Yahoo saying some places are walking back some of the loosenings of house arrests. NOT a good idea. A rise in cases is to be expected. "They" need to think of Minneapolis. Can you imagine angry house arrest protesters and angry George Floyd protesters joining forces? I sure can.

What's funny to me is that I bet a lot of those armed lockdown protesters are also people who get quite upset by police acting like thugs. The left will never allow it because they're so purity minded, but imagine if the anti-authoritarian right and left joined forces on this issue. That would truly strike fear in the hearts of power hungry authorities.

If you give those in charge an inch they will take a mile, it's important for the people to keep them in check.

I wish people would wake the fuck up and realize that this is one of the biggest reasons the media pushes discord between those of different political bents. Because if they united behind causes they overlapped on it would be a huge threat to their power, and they like things the way they are.

I think I will post that picture of an alcoholic beverage to cheer the end of this soon enough.
Only realy relevant news about corona is that indeed the protests of Vox have resulted in a spike amongst the protesters:
Of course they fucking have. They claimed it wouldn't, but they were idiots. The spike wasn't the problem, the problem was the media bullshit surrounding them.

That aside. Well finally Sanchez has fucking stood up for Illa and Simón. About damned time I say, specially Simón, but, baby steps you know. https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/4276289/0/sanchez-defiende-labor-simon-illa-coronavirus/ bout too damned late for this I'd say but any support is appreciated to some degree. But we are not here for that, we are here for spain news, because I left you with partial intel on the storm that was brewing, so here's the new intel:

1-The Los Pascuales fiasco revives the White Tide in Andalucia, this morning thousands of people protested on seville, adding to the 5000 in cadiz last sunday. The Junta still responds only with half truths and outright lies which only serves to set the fucking social media on fire. Media is still dodging the topic and trying to ignore left wing protests in spain so we'll see if they even cover it but you can see it here: https://es-es.facebook.com/MareABla...515379570797/1684722668250055/?type=2&theater

2-madrid joins the fight after learning Ayuso is also trying to privatize healthcare further, and will protest tomorrow. The Madrid White Tide is known for calling for THE biggest and most brutal protests in spain which is probably why they tried to cut themselves up by asking for everyone to protest in front of their local healthcare center as opposed to all on the same place. They are trying to be nice, this goodwill is rapidly running dry though...

3-On top of this even more threats by PP administrations to healthcare workers leaking intel about their mistreatment are, well, leaked. Because telling someone "if you leak something else we'll punish you" in spain is fucking retarded. And this strokes the flames considerably, with protestors calling for open violence. Note we aren't afroamericans though, so their calls for violence are far more focused on specific individuals and buildings, not burning our own city. Something I didn't think I'd need to specify until very, very recently, so don't expect a spanish city on fire. But at this point I do expect a murder, or even a bomb.

4-Private Healthcare also strokes the flames considerably by now demanding we pay them fucking reparations for the "loss of income" due to lack of patients after they closed, even though we asked them to stay open, the fucking assholes literally didn't do anything and now ask we pay them for how much they didn't do as if they had no choice but to close, and despite the fact that as I talked about here during the tests fiasco many stayed open and just chose to "focus on more lucrative endeavors" and didn't fucking help us. (Second link.)

5-Meanwhile the PP strategy backfires stupendously on congress and reinforces the coalition government, leaving them completely stranded and lacking any and all support, proving that Sanchez isn't nearly as stupid as he looks. (He's still a cunt though.) Which leaves the PP with no national pull to protect themselves from the coming healthcare-related shitstorm that threatens to cull them again.

Overall, right now the losses the right wing has inflicted on our healthcare are astronomical, but they have finally awoken the White Tide, and they are winning the war quite rapidly now they've started moving. Pissing off the White Tide was also Rajoi's fuckup in 2012 so you'd think they'd have learned but clearly this is a lesson that must be repeated before it sticks. I give it a few weeks before we start seeing people kicked from office and judges flinging paperwork left and right once more. I just hope we don't resort to violence before that. Or actually part of me hopes some radical WILL resort to violence. Here in spain we have a saying, "la letra con sangre entra." "Lessons are learned through blood." So since our ex-dictators seem to not have learned a fucking thing from decades of fighting, maybe it's time we taught them for real. Either way, I guess I'll be happy no matter what happens, so long as the left doesn't surrender before public healthcare has been properly reinforced like it should be. We can't let this wounds stay, that's for damned sure. Los Pascuales must go, one way or the other.

No, this will prove that the lockdown was unnecesary.

DING,DING,DING! WINNER!

Two weeks would have been plenty. Isolate and quarantine hot spots and buffer zones, let everyone else go back to work/school/etc. Over forty states did the statewide house arrests. NONE of these states did the two-week thing. They ALL went all-out. Just a political power play now.

Some say that loosened house arrests could be retightened as more cases develop. "They" would be very unwise to do so. People are angry enough now about the house arrests and Minneapolis. Such an action could be the straw that breaks the people's back, far as patience goes. WE! HAVE! HAD! ENOUGH! THAT'S ALL!

Anyone else getting the sense there's something larger going on here?

Two years ago, Trump announces tariffs on China.

Last year, 1300 CEOs retired suddenly.

Last year, Trump is Impeached on a bunch of bullshit charges.

This year, plague hits and for some reason China engages in the worst public health practices in the history of the world.

This year, we shut down our businesses and increase unemployment checks by $600 a week, putting a lot of people on $4k a month tax free income with nothing to do.

Now, we have riots in many major cities. All of which happen to correspond with the locations of 2018 impeachment protests organized by MoveOn.org.

And no one seems to remember they were supposed to be in quarantine. They were calling everyone else racist for wanting to be outside.

He’s saying that he will have Antifags declared terrorists. He said that before. Maybe our impeding Final Conflict with the Ching Chong will make them finally deal with these Maoists to avoid getting distracted from the real war.

William Barr is saying they are being treated as terrorists. Unlike Trump, he gets shit done.

This is where digital / ideological / information warfare could become kinetic.

We will see how much information the NSA has on them, probably out some rats at CNN real quick.

Guys remember how we were all worried about them using that "Contact Tracing" tech that they were building to track down COVID against other groups?

Took them less than 3 months to switch from "Plague Bearers" to "{{{political activists}}}".

Anyone who puts that app on their phone is way beyond retarded. If they have it, they will use it as they please unless and until a court stops them.

Michigan, USA

SHUTDOWN SHOWDOWN
Shelter-in-place order from Tuesday March 24 to Monday April 13. Friday, May 1, Friday, May 15, May 28, but May 22 for the farthest north, May 21, kind of? But also June 12 May 1, maybe? (archive May 21) (executive order saved on KF) . The Republican-controlled legislature has refused to extend Governor Whitmer's emergency authority. Governor Whitmer insists her emergency orders are all still in effect (Rundown on the laws).
State attorney general Dana Nessel (D) is also leaving enforcement of the stay-at-home order to local discretion until the courts weigh in on it (archive). She has stated Governor Whitmer's orders are valid and are to be enforced (archive). The legislature is not calling for civil disobedience at this time (archive).
The legislature has filed a lawsuit against the governor (archive). Oral arguments were heard May 15 (archive). A Court of Claims judge has ruled in favor of the governor. The legislature has appealed.
State senate leader Mike Shirkey (R) is also supporting a petition drive to change the law. Such a petition would require 340,047 signatures to be collected. It would be veto-proof if approved by the legislature, and would go on the next general election ballot if denied by them (archive 1, archive 2, archive 3).
U. S. Rep Paul Mitchell (R - The Thumb) has filed a lawsuit independently against Governor Whitmer, in federal district court. Link, pdf on KF. He has also founded a committee to work on the petition recommended by Sen. Shirkey.
The U.S. Department of Justice is supporting another lawsuit, brought by seven businesses (archive).
There have been over a dozen lawsuits in all against Governor Whitmer's actions during this crisis, mostly regarding the shut-down order, in various stages of progress and in various courts (summary of eight of them). However, "all deadlines applicable to the commencement of all civil and probate actions and proceedings" are suspended until the end of the states of emergency and disaster. Executive order, and thus in limbo. (archive).

OTHER SHUTDOWNS

Auto manufacturing resuming May 18. (archive).
Retail opening May 26, with restrictions. Medical procedures officially resuming May 29.

Massive phone-tracking project reveals Michigan travel is nearly back to normal (website).
The State is facing a $2.5 billion budget shortage (archive).

HEALTH CARE
Hydroxychloroquine banned by governor's order (archive). Nevermind LOL! Now she's asking the federal government for it and claiming the ban was a mistake in the first place. (archive). Detroit-area hospitals are testing the drug's effectiveness as a preventative on first responders and health-care workers (archive). Article on results, May 8 (archive).
Up-to-date count of available hospital beds, etc. in the State (the Detroit area is "Section 2, North and South.")(government website)
State of affairs May 5 - about half as many hospitalized cases and ICU cases as on April 12 (archive).
Detroit field hospital, capacity 1,000, closed. Never had many more than 20 at any time. (archive, May 7).
The state is going to add "probable" deaths from Coronavirus to our death tolls. (archive - May 20)

LAW AND ORDER
All localities given more discretion to release prisoners early (archive). It was an executive order. Who knows if it's still valid?
Breaking the lockdown is a misdemeanor, punishable by $1500 fines and 90 days jail time. (Still valid???) Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has stated there will not be a "ramp up" of police enforcement (archive). The attorney general has left it to local law enforcement to close businesses, as her hands are full with price-gougers and con artists (archive).
The police cannot, at present, pull drivers over simply for being out during the shutdown (archive). Multiple sherrifs from the rural north to Detroit suburbs have stated they will not be enforcing or not strictly enforcing parts or the entirety of the order (archive). An increasing number of businesses are quietly ignoring or publicy defying the shut-down orders.

OFFICIAL DEATH TOLL

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reviews deaths and adds overlooked cases to the count three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (usually). Recovery counts are updated on Saturdays.
37 deaths were added yesterday.

MDHHS said:
Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website.

Detroit Metro (pop. 3,860,000 total; 1,796/sq. mi.; 694/sq km):*

35,197 confirmed / 4,237 dead yesterday

All Michigan (9,990,000; 103/sq. mi.; 40/sq km):

57,397 confirmed / 5,491 dead
56,884 confirmed / 5,463 dead yesterday
(i.e. 28 new deaths, up 23 from this day last week (or up 19. See above.)
Normal Michigan Death Rate: 271 per day.**

Death toll doubled since: April 21.
We were locked down from: March 24 (until April 30? May 21),
Masks have been mandatory in stores since: April 27 (until April 30?).

Detroit Metro Daily Deaths Last Seven Days:

State Government site, daily - today's archive;
State Gov site, total, includes breakdowns by sex, age, race and ethnicity - today's archive.
*Here defined as the City of Detroit, and Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties, minus state and federal prisoners, who are not counted towards any county's cases, but are kept in categories of their own.
** As of 2018.
*** 14, 17, and 37 statewide deaths, respectively, were added on these days upon State review. I don't know how many were in Detroit.

One Ann Arbor man allegedly killed by his roommate in a Corona-related dispute (archive). The suspect has been released from custody while the investigation continues (archive).
One Flint security guard allegedly murdered for telling a woman that her daughter needed to wear a mask in a dollar store. Multiple suspects are in custody (archive, A&N thread).

You won't be asked. It's coming as a security update (mandatory and automatically installed) and all future versions of the OS will have it pre-installed.

Edit: I cannot stress this enough. If they want something on your phone, IT WILL BE PUT ON YOUR PHONE. They do not have to ask you. They will not ask you. They will not tell you it's happened.

You'll find out when you're pulled in for questioning as to why your phone was seen nearby a known enemy of the party's, or when you get notification from your HR department that your phone was detected around known white supremacists.

The only way to stop this was to prevent the tech from being created in the first place.

Believe they can only put this app on smartphones. I have a burner flip phone. Hmmm...word to the wise. You may wish to get a burner phone for certain applications. Turn that phone off when not in use.

Also expect to see a thriving business in app removal/adjustment. For every measure there's a countermeasure.

Something new popped up yesterday and I aimed to get a check up at the clinic. Problem is, I don't have masks and its sold out everywhere here. Not sure what to do, but I can't ignore whatever popped up since it looks too serious to do so.
Visited the clinic and apprantely, I have the symptoms of the virus. And I'll get the results of that turns out to be Corona-chan or not tomorrow.
Welp.

Additional Michigan Happenings:

In cutting state employees' work weeks from five days to four, those employees are now eligible for partial unemployment and collecting enough in unemployment benefits to make more money than if they were working the fifth day. In the example cited in-article, an employee making US$50k would end up with an extra $480/week.

When asked about it, Tiffany Brown -- one of Governor Whitmer's spokespersons said, "State employees have families to support just as anyone else whose work has been impacted." :story:

(Archive #1)

Meanwhile, people who have had their unemployment claims denied, yet to be approved, or frozen because of claims filed fraudulently in their name (article/archive #2) currently receive nothing -- as do those who have seen their income reduced without being eligible for unemployment or other assistance programs. Ms. Brown's statement certain does little to reassure these people that they will get the assistance they need more than someone still working and guaranteed $40k (or more) in salary plus unemployment that more than puts them above their base pay.

As all this happens, Governor Whitmer continues to give evasive answers to the media when they ask her how soon more people might be able to resume work/activities either by executive order or by reduced case and death numbers in their regions of the state.

This year, we shut down our businesses and increase unemployment checks by $600 a week, putting a lot of people on $4k a month tax free income with nothing to do.
Unless the CARES act declared the extra $600/week tax-free, unemployment benefits are generally taxable income. I believe most, if not all, states allow claimants to opt into having 10% withheld for Federal taxes and a similar flat rate for state taxes where appropriate.

I thought the additional funds were tax-free, the same way other stimulus funds were treated. But I could be confused.
