Mass Plagiarism Controversies

Witcher is just an Elric, no one would ever think to write a white haired badass who takes drugs, fucks chicks and has the incredibly original nickname "the white wolf".

The devil is always in the details.

For example, on the surface, both the original Star Wars trilogy and the soy-filled nu-trilogy try to retell the Hero's Journey, and look how differently they turned out. Even if we analyse both in a vacuum, i.e. not treat them as parts of the same continuity, and take how audiences' preferences changed since the late 1970s/early 1980s into accout, the latter is just worse in pretty much every aspect.

I also vaguely remember a law from Arthur Bloch's "Murphy's Law..." books that went something like "when you copy a single source it's called plagiarism, when you copy several of them it's called research".

There was a "argument" in that two hour long Kimba video by YMS saying that it's not a rip off because it was not Kimba's father in the sky in the 1997 movie, it was Kimba appearing to his son… But… Is he really sure he watched the complete 1989 series? Because if he did, he would know in the 1989 series, episode 37, his father's spirit appears to him and gives him a speech just like Mufasa does to Simba. The only difference is, Panja's mouth doesn't move. He appears to him, Kimba is talking about how he doesn't have enough confidence in himself to rule his father's kingdom, then his father gives him the peptalk that he needs, and the scene ends with Kimba trying to chase after his father only for the spirit to fade away. Just like in the Lion King. And he appears to him in the 1965 series in the moon while Kimba is sitting up on a cliff. Funny enough, this was actually in some pre-production artwork for the Lion King. So I'm really starting to believe that they wanted to make a remake but couldn't get the rights. They were able to get the rights because I feel it would have been a better movie if they could have. The 1989 series in my opinion is the best one out of all of them. And I wish they would reboot it again, I would love to see what they would do with the franchise. Oh and, the English dub only got up to like episode 12 or something, so I don't know if anyone else is going to pick it up to do it in completion. Pioneer realized just how dark it was and they decided to quit.
