Weren't the extra $600s per week checks coming out of next year's taxes?
I believe the $600/week is coming out of the 0.6% Federal unemployment tax (FUTA) that employers pay each year on the first $7000 of employee wages each year -- a maximum of $42 per worker per year.

The $1200 stimulus, I believe, is an advance on what's going to be a tax credit people will get on their 2020 income tax returns. I imagine it will be similar to health insurance credits where the amount received in advance gets reconciled with what should have been received based on what the filer(s) show as their adjusted gross income.

I thought the additional funds were tax-free, the same way other stimulus funds were treated. But I could be confused.
That's why I prefaced my statement with "Unless the CARES act declared the extra $600/week tax-free". Between the legislation for CARES and PPP funds, the final bills are being interpreted and reinterpreted in various ways as described in the daily accounting news e-mails my workplace receives.

Trust me when I say you're not the only one confused because tax professionals are also trying to figure out what to tell their clients about the different types of available assistance. PPP funds, for example, have a stipulation that a certain percentage be spent on payroll with most of it to be earmarked for that, utilities, and rent in order to have the amount received be totally forgiven and not subject to payback. Furthermore, any expenses paid with tax-free PPP funds presently won't be deductible on a business tax return. Accounting/financial lobby groups are asking that this be reconsidered because of the impact/burden this would have on small businesses and sole proprietorships, especially those that might not be allowed to reopen within the specified eight-week window.

You won't be asked. It's coming as a security update (mandatory and automatically installed) and all future versions of the OS will have it pre-installed.

Edit: I cannot stress this enough. If they want something on your phone, IT WILL BE PUT ON YOUR PHONE. They do not have to ask you. They will not ask you. They will not tell you it's happened.

You'll find out when you're pulled in for questioning as to why your phone was seen nearby a known enemy of the party's, or when you get notification from your HR department that your phone was detected around known white supremacists.

The only way to stop this was to prevent the tech from being created in the first place.
So happy I never owned a wireless device and never will. 1590892270020.jpg

Beat thing you can do, aside from moving away from enemy territory is to kill your smartphone.

Believe they can only put this app on smartphones. I have a burner flip phone. Hmmm...word to the wise. You may wish to get a burner phone for certain applications. Turn that phone off when not in use.

Also expect to see a thriving business in app removal/adjustment. For every measure there's a countermeasure.
Having a flip phone is the smartest thing you can do.

I went camping this weekend, and came back to burning car, riots, and a curfew. I guess this is what happens when you lock people down for too long. There's plenty more info in the dedicated thread but from the videos I'm seeing of LA (and worse stuff from Long Beach) social distancing appears to be out the window. I see a decent smattering of masks. The crowds all seem to skew teens and early 20s, so I guess the young people feel stronger about racial injustice than they do about Corona.

I don’t know what’s going to happen now has no one cares about the virus anymore. Will the lockdowns get ignored outside of certain states?

I feel like the lockdowns are suddenly last week's news (and I'm in a hotspot). But the Karens on my Facebook are screaming that all the kids out protesting are going to be dead in two weeks. So I guess it'll be at least two weeks till they come out of their houses.

Who knows at this point? Fucking DC's burning to the ground while the National Guard's jerking off in a corner.

Sorry if I seem pessimistic, I'm just tired of this goddamn year.

Been a bit since I've posted in this thread, well obviously because of watching the lefties finally go off the rails in the US. Since now it is June, I will begin by giving a quote early on about the trends I've been watching the last couple of months.

Well they just locked down the entire country, closed off international flights today. Trudeau in promising leader fashion, still stretching this thing out wider than goatsee, looking like a fucking fruit like usual. All events are cancelled, public places closed, and all the restaurants are being asked to close for at least the next 3 weeks. I have to now wait for my ROE form with my final pay from my boss. So looks like I am out of work until this blows over, guess better safe than sorry, but I was really not looking forward to losing my job for the time being. They are saying there is going to be a speed up in EI benefits for people laid off, with some packages available for all of the people who just lost their jobs this week. Only delivery services, shops, and essential services are open. Government buildings are even closed for the time being, so the projection here is 3 weeks.

Luckily I just upgraded my internet so it's worked better than it ever has, so I can stream some hi-def streams of the chimp outs that are going to start happening soon. Seeing economic trends the damage will be substantial, so hopefully people can get on the whole fuck China outsourcing campaign so that goods and services can slowly be pumped back into our respective economies. They just opened a screening center where I am at, so in the manner of a few short hours cases are for sure are going to start popping up. Hopefully we can tackle this thing and anti-viral treatments and remedies can start coming out to help the people that end up contracting it.

From my last update, we are still in phase 1 of the reopening strategy, and that is because Ontario extended lockdowns until the 9th of June now. My job is still closed, me and my Chef ended up kicking it the other day, first time I've actually really went out to see any of my friends since all of this stuff started. It looks like that he just got a new gig for running a new kitchen, and after the renovations are done essentially I am the first guy that's getting called back. So hopefully about July I'll be back on my feet and employed once more. My old job is now gone like the wind, building changed and everything. Most of my buddies that are still working, all of their hours have been cut an insane amount. Everyone is antsy about the virus still, but it's almost as if no one knows what to believe anymore. Even my more lefty buddies are starting to turn over to the other side of the fence on a lot of things, because of the terrible job chairmen Trudeau has done.

We have some promising news about some treatments being developed, and seeing the trends in the deaths compared to cases, I think that the doctors are starting to figure out how to at least treat it better. My nurse buddy was telling me about the nursing home situation in my area, and it's been 2 weeks since we've had someone die from the kiss, so death rate is going down. Cases are staying steady, we have the occasional freak day of a spike, but those are few and far between. The chimp out season has started full force, of course they'll use the race-baiting garbage as their excuse. Though, considering that in the last week we've seen China take on the whole world, and China and India are having another scuffle in the Himalayas another Kiwi informed me of earlier on last week.

I think the chimp outs are a natural response to the lock down, but also the timing of these is just too strange for me. Commies have been planning this for a while, and as much as we have pissed on China over the last couple of months, I think the rise in domestic terrorist activity is correlated to that. I am more interested in finding out the money trail behind ANTIFA, because that could answer a lot of questions. Irregardless of that, back to the virus. It looks like the blood disease theory we where all speaking about in April is beginning to emerge in the MSM, it looks like they are 2 months behind at this point on every revelation we've discussed on this thread. If anything we've learned from all of this, is that we are watching the neo-liberals now cannibalize in real time. Once they purge themselves out, I think we can begin to maybe have a dialogue in how to rebuild things. A lot of that kool-aid these people drank finally has been spiked to the point that the normies are just not having this shit anymore. The little hitlers have a mess in their cities now from the woke or go broke crowd. I am going to say that we are in for a very fun summer of watching the neo-libs shadow box themselves to death.

The lockdowns loosened up. Can't travel city to city without a travel pass. Businesses are opening up. People still don't have income though so my business is fucked until the next pay day. I feel that the specter of the plague is easing but that could also be me wishing for a better tomorrow. It might all go tits up if it flares up again. Please let the strain of the CCPlague go weaker like God intended.

Worst-case scenario I foresee is that after the riots die down, they'll cook up any excuse they can to inflate more infection numbers for another round of fearmongering and throw everything into full scale lockdown all over again.

In fact it wouldn't shock me whatsoever if that's the exact plan. Get the riots going, accuse people of racism for not going out to "protest", then as soon as it's over, make up stories about infection/death spikes and whip right back around to screeching about staying inside even longer. You know how some lunatics talk about how the lockdowns could go for 2 years or more? This is exactly how they're going to enforce that prediction.

Probably, hopefully, not what will happen as the normie majority are sick of everything from this cursed year and are itching for a return to normalcy no matter what the leftist regime chimps about, but you can't trust for any positive outcome in clown world these days...

"They" REALLY don't want to try that.

I hope they don't try that shit because people are gonna be even more pissed and the government will have no choice but to stop the lockdowns.

Michigan, USA

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has finally lifted our stay at home order.
"She will also loosen restrictions on gatherings, allowing for up to 100 people instead of the current 10, and allow in-person dining -- with capacity limits -- at restaurants starting June 8, according to the Associated Press. Starting June 4, retailers can reopen to customers without an appointment with capacity limits, as well."

SHUTDOWN SHOWDOWN
Shelter-in-place order from Tuesday March 24 to Monday April 13. Friday, May 1, Friday, May 15, May 28, but May 22 for the farthest north, May 21, kind of? But also June 12 May 1, maybe? June 1, for real this time. (archive May 21) (executive order saved on KF) . The Republican-controlled legislature has refused to extend Governor Whitmer's emergency authority. Governor Whitmer insists her emergency orders are all still in effect (Rundown on the laws).
State attorney general Dana Nessel (D) is also leaving enforcement of the stay-at-home order to local discretion until the courts weigh in on it (archive). She has stated Governor Whitmer's orders are valid and are to be enforced (archive). The legislature is not calling for civil disobedience at this time (archive).
The legislature has filed a lawsuit against the governor (archive). Oral arguments were heard May 15 (archive). A Court of Claims judge has ruled in favor of the governor. The legislature has appealed.
State senate leader Mike Shirkey (R) is also supporting a petition drive to change the law. Such a petition would require 340,047 signatures to be collected. It would be veto-proof if approved by the legislature, and would go on the next general election ballot if denied by them (archive 1, archive 2, archive 3).
U. S. Rep Paul Mitchell (R - The Thumb) has filed a lawsuit independently against Governor Whitmer, in federal district court. Link, pdf on KF. He has also founded a committee to work on the petition recommended by Sen. Shirkey.
The U.S. Department of Justice is supporting another lawsuit, brought by seven businesses (archive).
There have been over a dozen lawsuits in all against Governor Whitmer's actions during this crisis, mostly regarding the shut-down order, in various stages of progress and in various courts (summary of eight of them). However, "all deadlines applicable to the commencement of all civil and probate actions and proceedings" are suspended until the end of the states of emergency and disaster. Executive order, and thus in limbo. (archive).

LAW AND ORDER
All localities given more discretion to release prisoners early (archive). It was an executive order. Who knows if it's still valid?
Breaking the lockdown is a misdemeanor, punishable by $1500 fines and 90 days jail time. (Still valid???) Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has stated there will not be a "ramp up" of police enforcement (archive). The attorney general has left it to local law enforcement to close businesses, as her hands are full with price-gougers and con artists (archive).
The police cannot, at present, pull drivers over simply for being out during the shutdown (archive). Multiple sherrifs from the rural north to Detroit suburbs have stated they will not be enforcing or not strictly enforcing parts or the entirety of the order (archive). An increasing number of businesses are quietly ignoring or publicy defying the shut-down orders.

OFFICIAL DEATH TOLL

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reviews deaths and adds overlooked cases to the count three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (usually). Recovery counts are updated on Saturdays.

MDHHS said:
Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website.
