A lot of businesses and properties in those neighborhoods are owned by immigrant groups like Arabs, Indians/Pakis, and East Asians. If you checked, I'd bet the overwhelmingly majority weren't owned by blacks.

You say only the malleable are affected by this, but that's a much larger percentage of people than you think. EVERYONE in the greater Seattle area where I lived bought into BLM in the way @HTTP Error 404 described: those not particularly politically active were basically convinced that it was utterly taboo to criticize BLM to the point that I felt like I would have EASILY lost my job in Seattle if I had done so. This doesn't just apply to uber lefty cities like Seattle, though. Anywhere where you have a concentration of university educated people who want to be on "the right side of history" (read suburbs), people will be shifted depending on what the media is constantly putting out. They've obviously moved these movements so mainstream that corporations are now actively supporting the protests. BLM has been doing this since their inception and it worked until they got too overzealous after the election and everyone realized they were never going to be happy and their tactics were extreme. But now, after everyone has forgotten about that, they latch onto what is clearly bad police action and then latch that onto the riots and then call anyone against the riots racist, thus moving people closer to their side.
