The National Guard is under State jurisdiction, and is already on the streets in several states. The Active Army is under Federal jurisdiction, and cannot be deployed stateside without either the express permission and request of the State governments or the declaration of a federal State of Emergency.
So the dem states can essentially let their city burn and claim "Why isn't Trump doing anything to help us?". 4d chess baby. Except that your state is now ashes and its about to turn into mad max.

Is it true that the military may get involved soon?
Think that America will turn into Syria 2.0 is a dream come true

Trump basically gave the Governors an ultimatum today. Get this shit under control or he will. He demanded maximum force and several of the Democrat governors ran to the media after the teleconference to call him a meanie doodoo head. Which is why we know about it.

And that’s the reason the “revolution” will fail. We’ve already seen how much infighting is in idpol. The Russian Revolution succeeded because there was enough cohesion between the Bolsheviks and they were smart enough to wait before fully overthrowing the government (the 1905 revolution wasn’t successful, and it took until 1918 to gain full control). Nickolas II was a very ineffective, authoritarian leader as well, so that helped immensely. There was also losing WWI badly to the Germans too, and that only radicalized people even more. This entire “revolution” is a farce and you know it is when media and corporations are behind you (which is very ironic for how many tankies are part of the rioters).
These people need to quite calling these riots a revolution. They have the support of most state governments, large corporations, the mass media and the wealthy elite. The only people these riots have hurt are the poor and middle class.

Governors can request the federal government send active duty troops to help in cases of civil unrest like the widespread protests plaguing U.S. cities. But, so far, no state governors have requested active duty troops to assist and instead have relied on local law enforcement and National Guard soldiers and airmen on state active duty.

Governors often prefer the National Guard forces in these cases because they can legally perform law enforcement duties in the U.S., whereas troops on active duty cannot or they violate the Posse Comitatus Act.

But, the president could invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy active-duty troops without a request from a state. Those troops would be allowed to conduct law enforcement missions. To invoke the act, Trump would first have to issue a proclamation to “immediately order the insurgents to disperse and retire peaceably to their abodes within a limited time,” according to the law.

So he could Tweet telling the rioters to disperse and invoke the Insurrection Act at the same time. Then he'd send in the National Guard to machine gun people in the streets.

The site really borked that up was replying to:

@Atomic Wangler:

Yeah, except it's already been a couple of weeks since places started reopening and no amount of media fearmongering or disingenuous interpretations of statistics

Well, if the second wave is limited to the city how are the choices of the suburbs the cause?

These people are so stupid. It is kind of terrifying when you remember these people who cannot reason their way out of a wet paper bag are probably licensed to drive cars.

I know that the LARP army is involved, but Tom Cotton said something along the lines of the having the army intervene and Trump tweeted his support
probably won't happen but it is fun to think about.

He can federalize them which puts them under his control, Eisenhower had to do it in Arkansas when the actual white racists there were trying to stop black kids from going to school.

10 U.S. Code § 12406

Whenever—
(1)
the United States, or any of the Commonwealths or possessions, is invaded or is in danger of invasion by a foreign nation;
(2)
there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States; or
(3)
the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States;
the President may call into Federal service members and units of the National Guard of any State in such numbers as he considers necessary to repel the invasion, suppress the rebellion, or execute those laws. Orders for these purposes shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia.

i've noticed that a lot of the comments in this thread lately aren't talking about crazy shit currently happening right now. are these riots actually slowing down?

I'm so frustrated and disheartened by all the looting. The shutdowns were supposed to slow down, but instead we're looking at curfews and increased surveillance. Shops in my neighborhood are getting boarded up and I've seen some broken glass. Just... ugh.
It's almost as if it was planned that way.

:thinking:
