It wasn't enough according to them. They wanted a whole platoon of the right wing death squad marching outside of their homes to make sure they don't even open their windows to get some fresh air.

I get that, but I just wasn’t expecting my otherwise sane, conservative brother-in-law to suddenly be cool with it.
Maybe I should have expected it, but holy shit I’m still blown away with how much the phrase “cities can be rebuilt, lives can’t” has gained traction given how it doesn’t stand up to any kind of moral or logical scrutiny whatsoever. Motherfucker, people are still dying. From the riots. People are gonna die and starve and descend into poverty and crime orders of magnitude worse than whatever small gains hope to be made.
I’m less surprised that “cities can be rebuilt” typically comes out of the mouth of people who have never built anything in their fucking lives. Same for “but the stores are insured...” even from people who as adults ostensibly understand how money works and have maybe even interacted with an insurance company at some point. The stores are not coming back, and everyone who owned it or worked there just had their lives ruined to the point where even a fat insurance payout (that by the way is not guaranteed and will suck up a depressing amount of their lives to fight for) is not going to fix it.
I shouldn’t have to face flak for simply pointing out the fact that if we excuse this shit and champion destruction as an appropriate reaction, then that’s all we’re ever going to get. And we don’t even have the luxury of it stopping even if everything collapses.

fuck it ill believe you. the mass suicide definition is only like 30+ anyways. and 130 people kill themselves every day in the US. i'm sure some reporter would be able to find 30 of the 2000 that will kill themselves in the next 2 weeks and find out it was because of all the happening.
but the chance of it being in the thousands seems pretty far fetched.

It is not very surprising that there is so much greed and violence, after all it seems that the mentally-unstable has always made up a significant chunk of the human population: they would never pass such a precious opportunity to express their evil all while being praised for it;
What is really disappointing is the overwhelming amount of people, who by all mean seem well-adjusted , who just condone those riots and blatantly choose to ignore that this is no longer about the death of a man. No matter how I try to look at it and no matter how many times I listen to their arguments, it doesn't make sense to me. In my inner circle absolutely everyone actively support the riots, and these are people that I genuinely value (and still do); it is very isolating.

I'll only be talked about after it ends as we start to see businesses move out and shut down that were looted and burnt. It will all be negative about how these once staples of communities had to shut their doors, and now the next Popcorn and Pajama themed bar is moving in to gentrify the area. Entire strips will change ownership, and the new owners will renovate the once quaint and classic look into some monolith of shiny metal and playful colors. They'll wring their hands and cry that the white man is ruining their community, turning a blind eye to why these businesses and people left in the first place.

Well on the large protests it's done 'cause, you know, they are large. As for why go outside into countryside, organizers usually pull that one when they think it can get violent or when the building in question is in a nearby industrial area or some shit like that. Of course that's when it is done by sane organizers in countries with decent protest regulations and unions that at least try to uphold the law. In america as these videos prove niggas just lock the roads in small groups to try and cause as much economic damage as possible for no good fucking reason. Because niggas don't have to live with the consequences of their actions, because they burden white men with them. And then they wonder why black folk become "race traitors" and abandon their ratshit degenerate cousins. Wake. The. Fuck. up. America.
That still could get pinned as negligent manslaughter, due to the "dangerous" part, and the knee maneuver is definite endangerment. So I'd say the cop is legally not even close to out of trouble. The autopsy does seem to indicate that indeed he was controlling his force and therefore not actually intending to kill or even really doing that much harm, though still that's a really dangerous maneuver and you just shouldn't even do it at all, but point is, morally... well it's not as bad as it looked at first I guess. Not perfect, not awful. Legally it's another deal. Socially he's so fucked it's not even funny.

Well, governors did it because Trump told them to make their own decision on the matter.
Probably because if he declared martial law to enforce a national lockdown, it would have prevented or otherwise hampered the formation of state-tailored reopening plans in the future and it would have made him look like a tyrant.

I think you're being optimistic that they will be gentrified after this. More than likely a lot of the gentrified areas are going to see people leaving. Nobody invests in burned out neighborhoods. Look at Ferguson. Nobody said "hey cheap real estate!" they said "christ, what a shithole".

I suspected the dude who was tweeting was fake merely by the fact you don't get twisted up like a fucking pretzel and tweet about it a couple of hours later. The shameless dicksucking of BLM afterwards kind of sealed it for me. I find it hard to believe someone beaten that badly would come out of it thinking that they were in the wrong.
