Let's keep something in mind here. The end goal at the end of the day for the deployed troops is not to be hardassed killers, it's to help restore order. If showing fellow human beings that despite their uniforms they acknowledge they may have legitimate reasons to be upset and do a token gesture of support while still not compromising on their lawful orders, then that's fair enough. At the end of the day, said soldiers are Americans too, and they don't want to have to kill their fellow countrymen if they can avoid it.

I always understood it as Latino=from Latin America. Spaniards are hispanic obviously, but they're not latinos. Neither are spanish-speakers in places like the Philippines.
