With all of my friends tearing at their clothes at the great injustice of the world, I decided to go check just how bad things are.
In 2018, there were 7,710,900 arrests. Cops killed 1,165 people that year through various means. Now, I took this victims of cops by race data off of "The Root" so we know it is the talking point data from that side. The arrests were from the FBI 2018 crime stats. I had to calculate non-Hispanic whites myself by adding all the listed races and Hispanics, then subtracting since otherwise we would have doubled counted some people.
They list 26.7% of the deaths as Black, which is 311, Hispanics are 18% for 219 and Whites are 589, or 50.6% of the total deaths.
Black people accounted for 27.4% of arrests, Hispanics were 18.8% and Whites are 50.3%,
This is near perfectly in line with the breakdown of arrests by race. If black people were killed by cops out of hatred, you would expect their death rate to be much higher than their arrest percentage to show they are being exterminated rather than arrested. It's a little below it, actually. You know what is a little above? The white death rate. Whites also might be likely to commit crime to their proportion, but I would have to check if the stats I saw on that separated out latinos or not, otherwise, it would probably be about equal.
A Black person has a 1.47/10000 (1 in 6802) chance of death per arrest... this number would only be smaller if you went with any kind of cop interaction.
A Hispanic person has a 1.51/10000 (1 in chance in 6622)
A White person had a 1.52/10000 chance. (1 chance in 6579)
It looks like cops are slightly hesitant to kill a black suspect over the other races, but really, the numbers are quite close.
To put it in perspective, you have 1 chance out of 4000 of dying in a car accident in a year, and no one calls for the abolishment of cars.
No one teaches all cars are bad. No one raises their kids to hate and fear cars. Way to make your whole group live in constant fear and hurt.
