For those of you puzzled by the prevalence of "400 years of slavery" among the Savage Hordes and their Pious Defenders (or you're a RACIST), you can thank the good folks at the New York Times for that particular shibboleth. This is almost certainly a reference to the "1619 Project," a massive, coordinated effort of woke educators and historians to reshape the public consciousness from thinking of the year of America's birth is 1776 to thinking it's 1619 ... because, according to these totally unbiased scholars, that's the year slaves were first brought to North America, and therefore the true foundation of the United States. There's a lot to unpack with this -- from the questionable accuracy of the claim to begin with to the jaw-dropping attempt at indoctrinating schoolchildren with the idea America is invested with an irredeemable sin in its very birth -- but that's the basic idea. Wonderful people, those Times writers.
