A day after reports of tear gas being used to break up a demonstration in Lafayette Park, more information has come out about what prompted the action and whether, in fact, chemical irritants were used on protesters.

Update on the "tear-gassing" of protesters. Turns out that there was the usual bureaucratic fuckup of the White House not informing local authorities that they were going to expand the White House's perimeter for Trump's photo-op. Protesters was not informed of the perimeter expansion until 10 minutes before they were to be redirected. The "tear-gas" that was used was actually a new technology called PepperBall which creates a 12 foot cloud of chemical irritant. The reason for its usage was that protesters were becoming violent, throwing water bottles and rocks.
