It's still early. They don't seem to be getting any better.

No, things have definitely died down from what we saw the first week. News of noteworthy rioting incidents started slowing down a lot the night before last.

FWIW I know someone who voted for Hillary in 2016 and was one of those people who was moving to Canada if Trump won who has said in the past few days that she's voting for Trump this year mostly because of the democrat response to the riots. I can only hope this is a general trend.

It's not though. To be south africa there needs to be one race overwhelmingly outnumbering the minority race, and the minority race being the one in power until its not.

That is not the case in America. Quite the opposite in fact. It also HAS to be pointed out a large number of the people causing issues in American cities are white. Despite all the claims that this is about race I think it's more accurate to view this as a major divide in the culture war that is now spilling out onto the streets in outright violence. But there is something that needs to be noted here.

Not one of these big city protest mobs has thus far attempted to go beyond the city and out into the immediate surroundings. This has been a problem solely for Blue America. There has been no attempt by these riots to take the fight to Red America. And we all know why. I don't need to tell anyone here what would happen if one of these riots spilled out of a blue congressional district into a Red congressional district and tried to raid the local wal mart.

At the moment people in Red areas are looking on in horror and not a small amount of anger. But it's an abstract problem. I dont know what the long term consequences of this will be but one thing I am certain of is that in the near term it is going to make the red vs. Blue divide in America even more sharp. Those in Blue America who dont agree with what is going on are going to flee to Red America.
