That's what chills me to the bone about all this -- how easily controlled they are. It was the same thing with comparing having borders to concentration camps. For a day or two, my friends were rolling their eyes at the absurdity, and not a week later one was screaming at me for saying the comparison was absurd. It was the same with going from "the masks don't work lol you idiot" to "wear a mask". And probably many other things that I myself fell for without noticing. They have no memory of what they believed last week, and anything that contradicts the narrative just gets "it doesn't look like anything to me".
These are people I grew up with, people who used to analyze politics carefully and give nuanced views, now just completely hijacked by anger and fear, spouting this week's two minute hate, every week. How much of that is getting older and feeling a drive toward tribal politics, an how much is an insidious mind virus that turns people into monsters?
Media. You can explain to people how media hacks their brains but it doesn't matter. They will say "I get my information from a variety of sources." They never consider that most of media will match in lock step with each other. And because of this effort to be "well informed" they will reject any other news source outside their selection.
I guess the dust has to settle, and you have to hold it over the head of lefties that they brunt down cities over this shit, and not let them forget it.
At this point I have found leftists to be... disengenous to the point they will only understand violence. There are too many news outlets pushing the narrative for them to ignore. These riots might be a good first step once some people get wrecked and start asking questions.
