Sorry for the OT dog breed sperging, but ACK-shually, Samoyeds are spitz-type herding dogs - stubborn and extremely energetic. Great Pyrenees are livestock herding dogs - far less energetic, but just as stubborn. Absolutely great with kids, gentle and affectionate, but they tend to stay up at night and sleep all day (because guarding livestock) so they're not the best young family dog. They're also territorial and they can be aggressive toward strangers - which I'm sure Greg thinks is a feature, not a bug, considering his paranoia - but it's not a dog to keep in suburbia without a fence. Not to mention they need brushing at least weekly if not more and they have a double coat so the undercoat blows out every spring and it's messy AF.
