I mean, would you want to re-open a store in a neighborhood that evidently has high crime, low police presence, and not much else? Insurance rates will go up, the community will be poorer (just wait until you see the totals for property damage), and you're not going to exactly have the healthiest pool of employees. Yeah, big companies have the resources to reopen, but why would they?
On the bright side virtue signaling is short-lived; people who live by it will eventually get bored and life moves on.
