Maybe optimistic but it looks like he's letting his top status slip, could be a sign of him giving up on this specific mobile game
People bounce around a lot in those rankings, presumably depending on just how much time they were willing to spend playing that month. It's not uncommon to see people move up or down hundreds of places.

I would say that TheyCallMeDSP disappearing and TheGunShow showing up with the same stats is pretty solid evidence of a name change. The emails where the customer service rep can't find GunShow but still sees TheyCallMeDSP is the smoking gun proof.

We know that they don't allow name changes. We know that customer service can't do name changes. We know that based on TheyCallMeDSP still appearing in Scopely's database that the display name was changed to GunShow84 but the user ID is still TheyCallMeDSP.

I would conclude that Phil had to contact someone with access to the game's code to change the display on their end. Now is that unethical or against their TOS? I don't know. Did the programmer do this out of the kindness of their heart or did Phil do a behind the scenes charitable contribution to this guy's bank account?

Either that or they're just playing dumb because name changes aren't something they normally do. In this case, though, one (open wallet) player was being targeted openly on Twitter and elsewhere, so they did it, but they know admitting it would lead to others who have paid more demanding the same.

That, or they have Phil's email address and quickly realized this was someone probing for information.
The fact they're even trying to claim TheyCallMeDSP is a 'low-level' account made me roar.

But he wasn't being targeted on Twitter because TheycallmeDSP and DarkSydePhil are two different people, remember? Unless TheycallmeDSP was checking Twitter and Reddit and getting salty from seeing all the people harassing the person they DO call DSP.

I was trying to get them to change Phil's name back to TheyCallMeDSP or even to DarkSydePhil, but they swear up and down they cannot do it. Interesting that they cannot track down TheGunShow84 and that they say the TheyCallMeDSP account is a low level account. I even sent them a screenshot of TheGunShow84's profile, and they couldn't see that it actually exists.
I like how as soon as you sent them a screenshot of the account they are claiming doesn't exist they shut the conversation down and demanded screenshots of the conversation 'TheyCallMeDSP' had with Support to effect the name-change before they would continue.

Also the sentence 'Is it possible for you to upload a screenshot of the conversation from Support who assisted you in changing your username?' very heavily implies it is something they can do somehow even though they keep pretending it's impossible.

It could also just be "Let me find out who gave you this impression / who to hand this issue to."

I agree that higher ups probably got involved but I'm not sure it's because of money.

Normally when a whale gets in trouble with friends/family because of a gambling problem, that does not hurt Scopely. We've seen the horror stories, many devs told players to pound sand, it's not really news anymore. Many of these people are actually clinically addicted so they will probably keep playing even if customer support tells them directly to get bent.

Phil on the other hand was a liability-their twitter feed was 90% gifs of an obese middle aged man masturbating and the username was a pretty clear connection back to him. If I worked in their PR/social media arm, I'd want to do as much as I could to distance myself from that shit. Telling a programmer "change the faggot's name to whatever he wants" is easy and helps them maintain some amount of separation/plausible deniability without actually having to comment on it.

Oh fuck me if I'm right the 'tism vortex is literally how he got away with the name change.

Tell them you didn't keep it because you didn't think you need it and you're a boomer who barely understands all this AOL anyway. And that you're not sure who did the change because you got bounced around to a whole bunch of people in different departments. Very confusing to a boomer who just wants to huff electronic ball sweat.

In the recent Feuds, he placed: 33, 48, 895, 99.

i'm pretty sure scopely posts the faction feud results themselves, which had thegunshow on it

so them saying the account doesn't exist, that's a phil-tier lie

Yes, the results are posted on the community tab on the wwechampions website.

Phil got his name changed in game again for the 2nd time. I'm the proud owner of TheGunShow84. 20200530_100533.jpg20200605_215102.jpg20200605_215051.jpg

To be honest, if i was a mobile game developer and i had a fukin loser spending 40000 and pending dollars on my game, i would allow to change his name and then lie about it whoever asking about my user. Real talk.

Also i found it funny that while dsp has a lot of paypigs, HE IS THE BIGGEST PAYPIG OF THEM ALL.
But Phil isn't the biggest paypig in WWE Champions, and far from it. I assume bigger paypigs have wanted name changes also and special treatment and don't get it.

I would imagine that, while he's not the only whale in the ocean, Scopely likes money a lot more than they dislike having some code monkey change a name that takes 2 minutes to do. Phil isn't the biggest whale, but he IS a whale. And as long as the wheelchair money gets laundered to beefcake bitmaps by way of the bank of Dave, they'll be more than happy to acquiesce to a simple name change.
