RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

How triggered do you think they'd be if you asked to speak to the original voice of Qrow? Or be vague and spend the QA session asking him about the seasons voice by Vic?
Go all out: Ask about Lettergate, the crunch Controversies, recent events involving Jay and Mica... maybe also push if Arryn and Barb are in some weird secret lesbian relationship to warrant the entire plot to bend over Bumblebee?

I couldnt remember if she was an e-thot or not
Aren't they all? (no I'm not a MGTOW or whatever the name is) I mean Ashley Jenkins (Burnie's wife) was part of the Frag Dolls, the "gamer girls" of Ubisoft. She only got the job at RT and her own show because she was fucking him.

There are many weird things happening here

1: Cal literally tried to hypocritically cancel Vex sometime ago & it was even talked a out in this thread some pages back. Why are they talking so casually again?

2: A black guy in the comments is literally telling her that what she's saying is nonsensical cause Talent & Qualifications > Appeareance. Does Cal neither realize RWBY is not Live Action, nor just how VA'ing isn't a thing which requires a specific appearance?

TBH tho, qualifications don't really matter considering RWBY was initially lead with VAs who had little to no experience. Lindsay Jones, Barbara Dunkelmann, Arryn Zech, etc., this was their first gig & they did acceptably enough to where the show could continue with them. They're literally just Funimation (Monica Rial was a hairstylist, Sean was a failed roadside Jazz Musician, Gen Fukunaga (Founder of Funimation) was a DJ)

Oh lord, this bitch is back again.

Voice acting isn't the same as Live-Action, it doesn't matter if the person doing a voice for their character matches the skin tone but if they're even good at the job to begin with at all.

She reminds me of Seth MacFarlane in regards to the would have been voice for Meg Griffin, wherein Cree Summer was a candidate for her but Seth was uncomfortable with a black woman voicing a white character;forgetting that Summer had already done such a thing in the past (She voiced Penny Gadget from Inspector Gadget, and Elmyra Duff from Tiny Toon Adventures), and ironically enough Cleveland would be voiced by a white guy.

You know it’s a big deal when you need gout statement pics. 8F4902A5-E541-4C7F-BF77-81ED5FDBCB1F.pngC6D5DE9F-4CC8-4C7E-83A1-1F12F6BE76D5.pngC4A2B5D3-0EFE-4769-8944-E0BA0051403A.png53563F16-04E7-443F-B422-EA48CA5B68B4.png

I don't know that an lolcow thread for RT would gain much traction. Other than this recent round of Black Lives Matter where everyone from Nintendo to pampers needs to make a statement lest they look bad, I think RT employees are generally good about keeping their opinions neutral enough not to cause derision. (That is to say, fairly left, to stay in line with their most outspoken fans.) The fact that they keep Joel on for so long and managed to let him go without a huge fanfare speaks to this. The only other major drama I can think of before this is just all the overlap with Weeb Wars.

That being said though, here's another RT employee conceding to Mica, former CEO and founder:

And Fiona did chime in:

I didn't watch that old Off Topic and I'm not going to but it's obvious Mica's position was a nepotism situation. She even spells it out in her original tweets: Levar's opinion was more important than her position. I think the fact that Fiona had Michael Jones and a few other members of Rooster Teeth defending her on social media well before all the protesting started a few months ago [archive] speaks to the fact that Fiona has been a much better fit for AH. Mica ended up doing exactly what Meg did too: used the built in RT fans to drum up her own base and then left to (attempt to) become a full time e-thot. When I thought it was the hate for the community that made her leave I almost respected her for turning it around by dropping some weight and getting a few simps on Patreon out of it (almost).

Finally, some actual relevant content for the thread: Inspired by that Gen:LOCK write up on the hobbydrama reddit, there is another write up in progress for RWBY. It's not quite as good as the Gen:LOCK one and there was really no need to split into parts but its still interesting. Two parts covering background and volumes 1&2 (so nothing really juicy yet) are up:

I know those, there's something in the OP that's covered the production of each volume, so I guess this is the road of the show itself. Not sure what it can add that hasn't already been talked about here.

I haven't watched RWBY since season three or four, nor have I kept up with the drama after Monty died. The Reddit threads, to me, seemed like a nice tl;dr.

So, everyone keeps saying Mica was mistreated this, abused that, but what the fuck actually happened? I'm not seeing anything outside of vague tweets saying "sorry for not yass queen'ing you enough"

Mica is the daughter of LeVar Burton, who played Geordie in Star Trek TNG and is a bit of a nerd culture icon.

When she joined the company she got the usual shit that new hires in RT' get, but cranked up to 11 after on a podcast, Burnie encouraged her to talk about her experiences as a black, bisexual woman (Mica would later say in a different video she got so much shit over it she was considering suicide).

Mica a few days ago explained that this wasn't a problem as much as the lack of response or support from RT, and that the silence on their part was what really hurt. After she left they apparently treated her like a liar and blacklisted her, and she got the impression that they only ever worked with her to try and get LeVar to work with RT.

on the one hand, this totally sounds like something RT would do to a former employee. On the other, Mica Burton is a generic Hollywood black rich e-thot daughter who thinks she is "oppressed" despite living better than 99.9% of Americans everyone on the planet (she is the .1% and all that). So honestly, fuck em both.

and she got the impression that they only ever worked with her to try and get LeVar to work with RT.
No shit Sherlock, everyone with half a brain cell figured that out when she first started associating with RT. Glad she finally caught up to the rest of us around.....what, like 6 years later?

So I accidentally summed it up correctly. Sweet.

Haven't watched the video, but the comments are pathetic. Literally not once have I ever seen people give Fiona shit because of her race or gender. Only because she's an unfunny, untalented, whiny little creep and because most of what she says is just parroting back the last words of someone else.

I never thought about RT being the one to have the second V5 like cataclysm that’s gonna kill RWBY. Then again, who outside of RT’s hardcore fanbase listen to these dozens of RT podcasts?
