The Governor has issued a response to criticism of her actions. The state is closely monitoring the spread of Corona, but has not noticed a spike in cases from the protests as of yet.

She noted that participants “couldn’t always observe 6 feet” of separation given the spacing of the march. But she said "we wore masks the whole time, we had ample use of hand sanitizer, we never shook hands, we didn’t high-five or hug the way that we usually would greet one another.
“I felt it was an important moment to show my support and show a unified leadership out of the executive office of the governor and so the lieutenant governor and I joined," Whitmer said.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Department of Health and Human Services chief medical executive and chief deputy, said it’s still early to see a trend but she hasn’t heard of any cases of COVID-19 associated with the recent protests.
The state’s contact tracing effort is asking individuals who test positive for the virus if they have been in any group settings and if they have participated in any protests, according to Khaldun.
“Right now we are certainly asking the question when we get new cases,” she said.

this is a thing in islam, and in principle it works, because everybody who accepts islam is guaranteed to eventually enter heaven.
however, the longer you wait, the longer the list of your sins and transgressions against allah becomes, and that list determines how much time you will spend in purgatory before you get to enter heaven. also if you suddenly die to unexpected events before accepting islam, then you go to hell for all eternity, so better not risk it.
