Yeah...I haven't watched it for that detail. There's something unsettling about forcing an issue like that on a Nickelodeon show I used to watch as a kid. To my recollection, they weren't forcing any kind of sexuality down peoples' throats in those days.

The instructor is not even wrong. There are different ethical approaches. I don't really know much about the subject, but at very basic level: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deontological_ethics vs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consequentialism captures this crudely.

Catholicism had a phase of "certain people cannot be saved". It's the 'Invisible Church' doctrine, which posits that even if you profess to be Christian and went to Church every Sunday; you merely belonged to the 'visible church' and could still be a sinner that God despises. Only members of the 'Invisible Church', God's special good boy list, would be saved.

Some of this sounds like a recognition of an unfortunate reality (you can be Christian and still not only be a sinner, but a genuinely evil person); but the way it was used had connotations that those of lesser birth were more likely to be excluded from salvation; and thus they had to prove their faith with acts of mutilation and public penance. This theory only had popularity during the Dark Ages, but it just goes to show that not only is this mindset not new but a pretty good sign of how history will end up recording all this shit.

Yeah, I like him too even though I'm not into the occult. I dislike his views on Christianity, but I get it. This dude is insanely smart when it comes to analyzing world events, even without the magic stuff. Here's a GREAT talk he did about how psychopaths run the world:
