There's a good question, I know it's not all that related to this article but I've never gotten answer and that's during the whole stretch of time that was the inquisition and later with witch hunts such as in Salem were people actually tried that were real deal legit satanists or witches? I'm not talking pagans like norse and lithuanian types but kissing goat asshole, name written in blood and smearing yourself in unbaptised baby guts witches.
The Inquisition was mainly targeted at heretical sects within the Catholic Church, the original Inquisition of medieval France targeted the Cathars, a fairly obscure heresy that's remembered today mainly for sparking the Inquisition and being the sect with the female leaders in Crusader Kings II
The Spanish Inquisition mainly targeted Crypto-Jews and Muslims in then-recently unified Spain and also targeted the Protestants when the Reformation kicked off.
None of the Inquisitions ever targeted paganism or witches. Even the Mexican Inquisition and similar New World offices largely ignored the natives and African slaves who often mixed native and African shamanism and paganism with the Catholic traditions, which is where we get stuff like Santeria in the Spanish Caribbean and Voodoo in Haiti and Louisiana.
Generally, the Catholic Church's stance on witchcraft was that it was impotent and foolish and at best would be punished with fines, censures, or corporal punishment. Joan of Arc was executed for being convicted of heresy, not witchcraft.
Most of the Christian witch hunts were done by Protestants, with burning at the stake being the norm in Europe while lynching was more of a New World thing.
The Salem Witch Trials were mainly Puritan paranoia, and the Puritans were essentially fundies on crack. The Puritans had more or less the beliefs of Westboro Baptist Church and Jack Chick with the violent zealot fervor of the Islamic State.
Officially, the people convicted and executed in the Salem Witch Trials were deemed as witches and Satanists, but the Puritans had a very warped definition of Satanism and degeneracy.
The Puritans considered stuff like reading Shakespeare, celebrating Christmas, and whistling on the Sabbath to be Satanic heresy worthy of a Calvinist Necktie.
Combine that with how the Evangelical fundies liked to claim a Puritan heritage because of the story of Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower Compact and now you know why so many fedora-tipping atheists and dangerhair SJW's of both the atheist and Wiccan variety like to invoke the Salem Witch Trials when they go on euphoric anti-Christian internet tirades.
they don't have who you voted for, but if you registered as with a party they will have that
There's a reason why I never officially registered with a party even back when I was an avowed Democrat.
Ironically, I think the Democrats going full retard on turning the country into "1984" might result in them turning the country into 1984.

Nah, we're way too polarized to get a repeat of 1984 or 1972.
But I could definitely see a repeat of 1968 or a GOP version of 2008 if Trump plays his cards just right.
I'm not going to make any bold predictions and say Trump has it in the bag, because 2020 has more or less proved that anything is possible, but it would take a literal miracle for Biden to win without the DNC committing electoral fraud so massive that it cannot be properly thrown down the memory hole.
