Traditional Italians hate blacks and even southern Italians. For a long time, even today I believe, Sicilians are considered Italy's 'Niggers'.
no, actually "Traditional Italians" don't really have a special feeing towards the South (Italians come from the South or the North and both would be included in "Traditional Italians")
whether Sicilians are niggers or not depends where the person you ask comes from (and in the North it depends on the political affiliation)
abt Italy in short:
- the North doesn't like the South
- the South doesn't like the North
- people from outside Rome don't like Romans
- Romans think everyone from outside Rome is a barbarian
- between people from the same city, people who live in other areas are not to be trusted
- between people from the same area, people from other streets are not to be trusted
- what they feel about blacks depends on whether the black is a rich American tourist or a poor Senegalese selling counterfeit CDs
- Napoli has many pickpockets and they don't mind demonstrations
Neapolitans think come from the best city in Italy (and maybe in the world) if you say someything bad about their city. So do Romans, Milanese, Venetians, etc. However when stimulated, especially by another Italian, they will say that in Italy nothing works. Many will get a job abroad but then complain how "abroad" is bad and how the English/French/Germans etc. are weird and how things are strange but they very rarely go back and live in Italy.
the knee-jerk Italian reaction IRL to someone saying something about Italy would be to ask "where are you from?" then dissect up to the address
then reply with that's a typical answer from a foreigner/an Italian who was born abroad/who lives abroad/from Italy/ from the North/South/Rome/this city/this part of the city/this street and people from (insert text) never know what they are talking about.
This is suspended if Italy wins the football (soccer) world cup or wins a match especially against France or Germany.
regarding black people "in general" depending where they live, they would have no opinion or resent them if there are too many.
I've never heard anyone, how liberal and trendy they could be, even if they support (American i.e. very far away from them) blm say they would like to have more black people in the area they live in.
*However* the South relies on a lot of foreigners coming in to pick up tomatoes/etc. The North on them to work in factories. Rome on them to be tourists. And foreigners do lots of jobs that Italians won't do. It ends up being very complicated but it's nowhere near the US.
