In fairness, anything you could consider a "value" or a way of thinking is not essentially "Christian". Christianity may have claimed (directly or through common behaviours amongst its followers) particular views, habits and morals, but nothing makes them actually "belong" to Christianity, and the same applies to other organised religions. Any anti-Christian Amazing Atheist type doing any of the things you described does not make them hypocritical or inconsistent. I mean they are, but not for that reason.

I agree, though it's worth noting the "skeptics" unwittingly inherited the values of their Christian upbringing whether it is conservative or liberal faggotry (pick one).

Idk. It depends on the family and the style of upbringing, and the extent to which the children were exposed to Christianity (and if the parents were feel-good peace-loving types or evangelical control freaks). Most self-identified Christians I know of don't even read the Bible. Saying grace or occasionally praying for goodwill is about as far as it goes for a lot of families.
I'd also be wary that some of them tweak the facts a little and make as if they were deeply scarred by a forcefully religious upbringing because they enjoy the martyrdom.

I'd say people's Christian values come from a miasma of ideas that derive from Christianity (good versus evil, the concept of original sin, people as agents with free will, everyone having a direct and equal relationship with God). Those Christian values become informed by a conservative or liberal shade depending on the historical circumstances. The conservative shade obsesses over original sin, rigid codes of good and evil, and vengeance against sinners. The liberal shade obsesses over victimhood from evil oppressors, achieving equality, and obtaining freedom to realize an "authentic self". (All this LGBT stuff is about realizing an "authentic self" that is being oppressed by social norms and abusive bigots.) Very rarely is a person's Christian values derived from the Bible. I've yet to see a Christian who actually read the damn book.

As for "skeptics" distorting the facts to make themselves into martyrs, I would not be surprised if that was true. How deeply scarred is an upper middle class kid forced to go to church, really?

Not to further derail this thread about Nikki boi, I think this whole conservative vs liberal Christian quackery is kind of uniquely American, so it has a lot to do with the culture of a nation too, and let's not forget that the US was also a dumping ground for prot denominations with weird beliefs from the very start. I'm Orthodox Christian and I think I've got more in common in terms of worldview with someone who's ethnically Polish and a Catholic living in Poland itself than someone of my Orthodoxy who's living in N. America. Or well, that was my experience at least.

That's fascinating, I imagine most women learn how to apply makeup early in life. Also women I've known have tended to be pretty careful about removing makeup and doing general skincare.
